Topps Tiles?

P

Peter

I see there's the first NI branch of Topps Tiles opening about 2 miles from me at the end of the week. Right beside another independent tile shop, questionably.

Are there any good deals for materials in it or is it pretty expensive by and large? What brands do they stock? Usually have to go to the other side of town for the premium/specialist stuff like Bal/Mapei/Ditra/Hardiebacker etc so can I expect anything like that? Good quality tiles or bargain basement stuff or a bit of everything?

Do they have a policy for giving out work too? Wouldn't mind buying stuff from them on the first few days in the hope of getting in with them if they're trade friendly.

So if a bag of Supercover is about £17, will I be paying £23 in Topps?
They don't do supercover any more mate! It's a good friend of mine who's over there just now getting these new stores up and running. If you need a heads up give me a shout and I'll put the word in!

I use topps for just about everything i buy, to get the really good discounts you need to use them regular but if you get a better price anywhere they price match (for me anyway). Ive also found by using them regular they give my card out alot.

Opening tomorrow, will maybe call in after work with a fistful of cards and a case of beer.

Called in on Friday. Good selection of stuff but trade pricing was a bit high. £41 for single part fastflex and over £20 for 10kg microflex. Chrome trim was a quid cheaper than elsewhere though.

Got a pen, mug and a t-shirt, although I'd say my regular suppliers will fall out with me if I come through their door in a bright yellow Topps t-shirt. Will maybe do for dusting off.

They're planning on opening 8 stores here and 15 in ROI in the next 18 months, some operation.

Been in quite a bit, good for some stuff and not so good for others but getting a wee bit of work from them which isn't too bad.

Quite shocking what they supply to retail though. Have a kitchen splashback to do for my old next door neighbour and she got her tiles in Topps. Tiles were £100 or so, then they sold her a bucket of Bal Grip, £30, Porcelain sealer, £25, 1 length of chrome trim, £18, grout £15, grout sealer, £20, bringing the total bill to over £200. She asked me if this was about right, told her to take it all back and I would supply everything for £30 and would still be in profit. She couldn't believe the difference. Makes me think I'm not charging enough for materials

You've hit it on the head! Your not charging enough for materials.
mans you should be doubling the price for old next door neighbours.
