Re: tradetilerSALE

no the tiling ind is not thriving it is bad out there, but maybe not as bad as other areas.

Re: tradetilerSALE

the thread was a bit tongue in cheek..........i have some xmas money and next week birthday money to spend,so i was hoping to urge dave into a sale.

the thing is do i buy tools and then maybe look at them for the next 12 months, this year will certainly be slower, and if it is tool and adhesive sales etc will drop in a big way,so does ie:dave etc drop prices now or wait untill no one will buy.
this is not really about dave but the whole industry.

Re: tradetilerSALE

if industry's slowing down tilers ain't gonna be fixing,new/replacement tools aren't gonna be needed, so tradetiler's gonna be another link in the chain, this is gonna be a sign of the times I'm afraid. I would have to think long and hard about dropping my rates as I'm sure David would as well

Re: tradetilerSALE

I am not sure of this, but I believe Rubi doen't give a very good % to their clients, which would mean that the sellers, like Dave, would be giving Rubi tooling away for next to nothing if he did do a sale.

A high street expert was on Sky news a few days ago. He said along the lines that the shops are doing these 50-60-70% sales BUT with the original purchase price they buy for, and their % mark up, they are only prologing the same as that of MFI etc.........

Re: tradetilerSALE

All traders on-line or not are going to be feeling the pinch this year........or at least the first part of this year........I for one will not be splashing out on tools " IF" I can make do with wot I have.

Dave does have a good selection of tools and he like others will be no doubt be getting a little windy.

This year is definatly going to be survival of the fittest, and many are going to go.........not just in our trade.

So, keep busy lads & lasses, and good luck.

Re: tradetilerSALE

If you ring dave @TT direct and mention you are a tilersfourms.co.uk tilers arms member then you get discount anyway.......

Re: tradetilerSALE

the thing is everyone wants this or that cheaper we as tilers cant go below a certain level,so unless bal, rubi and ctd just examples knock there prices to the floor at least for this year then recovery wont happen.
i dont understand all these big stores making out there doing us a favour with ie:laptops with £100 off, well the laptop aint worth the now £400 its worth £300 so why dont they clear the decks get some cash in then they have bargaining power when they buy there wares,if they dont they will go bust.
if we are to drop our prices it has to start from the top and the same in every industry.
the only problem if they do this and people still wont buy as they keep waiting for even lower prices you could then get a depression, maybe thats what we really need and it all starts from scratch.

Re: tradetilerSALE

I for one am struggling. I have one job in the new year, and unless the phone starts ringing, I'm off to the dole office.

sorry to hear that Fred, hope the phone starts ringing for you

Re: tradetilerSALE

I tend to buy tools when I need them at the moment, unless someone offers me a great deal, like that little used Belle Mini Tile 230 for 100 notes!

It was a bit OTT for what I needed at the time but now it's come into its own. Not even the Rubi T60 Plus could cope with that wetroom former tiling I did, without wasting half the tile.
