I removed a bath today. To my deep joy I found that the wall had not been plastered to floor level. The area behind the bath is therefore breezeblock ,lacking about 3/4 inch of plaster.Because the job has been put back for various reasons I really cannot afford the time to have it plastered (unless it is the only answer)and wait for it to be suitable to tile onto.Dot and dabbing plasterboard seems unlikely because of small depth.Would drywall adhesive or dotting compound be a possibility.Obviously I want to do the job right so any help from you guys would be great.Cheers,Rob.

As you say.. just dot and dab it with plasterboard... 12mm board and rapid set will be fine...

or put some 9.5mm strips in, and then dot and dab the whole wall in 12.5mm plasterboard and have a nice blank canvas to work off:thumbsup:

You could use hardy backer board with the dot and dab instead of plaster board its a lot thinner i have used it before

Thanks for everybody for your rapid repliesI wasn't sure how secure dot and dabbing would be.Pleased you think it OK as it is by far the simplist solution. Will it be a case of small amounts of rapid set/dot+dabbing compound and plenty of them?Cheers,Rob.

Use the compound, damp the wall before applying dabs of dry wall adhesive

Just add, if you find a 25kg bag more than you need buy a couple of smalls bags of cove adhesive.

The cove addy from wicks are the same as the dry wall addy in 25kg bags

As above

And oh get use to this happening a lot if you're doing bathrooms! When viewing a job always try and investigate as much as you can before you give a price

I had this just before christmas.

I dot/dabbed plasterboard using rapid set............then skimmed over using Bal (Sorry, I know its a swear word) quick set render. Which to a non plasterer is quite easy to use
