VW Transporter Kombi

My trusty old Transit is on its way

done 248 k and still going strong but need tinkering with every week or so to stop the little oil leaks etc getting too bad and as it takes me half an hour to open the bonnet im not the man for the job so my plumber is having it

so

as we already have a caravan on the drive, the good lady had banned me from having another tatty van
so im looking at getting a Vw transporter

anyone know what the t4 t5 etc mean ? and should i just get a panel Van and look to get it converted to get the 2/3 extra seats in the back and the side windows
any advice more than welcome

budget 10 k ish quite happy to have a higher miliage one as i wont add many miles to it and i want to keep it till it dies

T1 to T5 is the model No, T4 is from 1990 to 2003. T5 is from 2003 to present,

Now i need to buy more bikes 1 full sussie 1 road bike and maybe if the wifes not looking a jump bike

Checkout the Amarok. Twin cab for the kids. Plenty of room in the back for carrying stuff too. Read up about them here VW Amarok Forum.

I just got a renault trafic sl27 100bhp. Not the easiest van to keep on the road but its serving me well and can even camp comfortably in the back when needed. Didnt think Id be able to manage the size downgrade but you learn to alter your needs. Seats in the back is proving more than usefull!

What did you downgrade from Dave? The traffic seems quite big on its own.

fiat ducato! Didnt have my dewalt wetsaw when I racked that out so everything Id done became obsolete... plus the ducato died!

Had a ducato myself once. Ducato 10 I think it was. Smaller than the traffic though!
