ive been asked by my local tile shop to do some displays for them, i have the choice of being paid for doing it, or doing them for free and having my details on the display, this display was tiled by....andy allen my phone number and a place to put buisness cards ect, any one ever done this kind of thing, did you get much work from it...

they have a fixer list, with about 20 tilers on there, just thought it might make my name stand out if they could see my work.....i know what your saying though, perhaps times are hard for all of us lol..

ok andy i guess it may be more worthwhile to have your name attched to the work as oppose to just a days pay mate as no doubt many people will see your advertisement attached

i would go that route

I've seen some terrible displays it's a toss up between showing off and saying look how good this is compared to the others or people thinking you've done all of them including the shoddy ones!

Given the choice I'd go for advertising over cards being handed out

I'd do the boards I think and have a card slot in the corner. And perhaps to get around people thinking you've done all the boards, you'd just need to sort out the wording somehow. Depends on how much space you've got to play with but if it's enough I'd have something along the lines of "Display boards with the following trustmark have been tiled by Andy Allen, Tel:032032030303" and then have a small brass etched square thing on it with your name or logo on too. So then they look out for those boards.

Not sure if that needs more though  - Doesn't sound right reading it back. But something like that should do.

If you had a card holder in the corner and a brass card sized plaque type thing with the wording on it in the other corner, that'd stand out from the others.

Why the shop don't do it themselves is another thing though thinking about it. They should be able to do display boards, surely?
