I lumos light switch

Hi,

I have installed a new I lumos smart light switch it's a 4 gang switch. The switch has 2 modules that control 2 lights each. When my LED downlights are in the the same module as any other light it causes the other light to flicker. Does anyone know why my LED downlights are causing the other lights to flicker I have tried my dining light with LED bulbs and when my downlights were on my dining light would flicker. I swapped my dining light with my under cabinet light and it stopped the...

4A fuse - how common are they ?

Was looking at the manual for a Keston boiler and it specifies that the supply must be via a 4A fuse (P30). It strikes me as a rather odd instruction given it's not a standard BS1362 size and that's by far the most likely means of protection it would be connected to.
Presumably if you used a 5A fuse they'd say it invalidates the warranty, and it might blow a 3A fuse (no idea how much current it actually draws). If they answer my other queries I might ask them about this.
In case you're...

Hydraulic crimping of 25mm 19 strand cables in flat crimp pins?

Evening chaps. What's the rules on this? I can't specifically see anything relative to the 19 stranded cables.

My boss says he won't crimp in consumer units, avoid it all costs, he rather strip a whole house down or add additional boxes than use a single crimp inside a CU. Fair play to him.

However on commercial jobs I've seen crimped solid core cables (mind you a gazillion solid strands) with mega amperage going through no probs.

So anyway, I tried it out on Doncaster Cables finest 25mm2...

Today's project, success

If you saw the Good Morning thread, you'll know what I was up to today. I've just a good stopping point. The back-story:

For the last two weeks I've had the use of a shiny Megger X1. While I'm automatically biased and grumpy towards against anything new and expensive, I have to concede that an X1 coupled with their CertSuite is a brilliant combination and together they make the admin connected with testing larger installations much simpler. Without me saying anything my wife noticed I was...

Outdoor floodlight gone dim

Hi guys

2 weeks ago ,I basically replaced a previous external standard light that was outside the house near the door with a 50w PIR floodlight. I kept the same cable that was connected to a switch inside . I attached the new floodlight using wago connections with new and old cable. Put it nicely in a junction box.

It is rated IP66. Also its under a canopy so hardly got any water etc on it.

It was working absolutely fine. However now it's coming on dim as shown In the attachment.

What...

Most efficient LED indoor lights?

I am looking to purchase LED strip, I will need around half a metre. My aim is to setup indoor table lamp (example idea: franklite TL605). I want it to be as efficient as possible, looking at 2835 LEDs due to them being the more modern solution. What are your recommendations and what is their wattage per meter?

Why one LED driver is using less Wattage

Welcome, I have two desks and each of them have the same setup, in terms of the amount of LED strips, the amount of LEDs (I counted), but only different is LED Driver. So:

Setup 1:
  • LED Driver (Ecopac 24W IP67 Rated LED Driver (EPV-24 Series)) - 24V
  • 4 LED strips
  • Uses 1.3W

Setup 2:
  • LED Driver (Mean Well NPF-40-24 (NPF-40 Series)) - 24V
  • 4 LED strips (Same ones like Setup 1)
  • Uses 0.7W

The efficiency mentioned in Setup 1 for LED driver is about...

Ramp up AND ramp down LED driver... do they exist?

Before I build this thing from scratch, I just want to see if anyone has come across a pre-existing LED driver that does this...

Myself and some neighbours want to install LED strip lighting around our driveways, triggered via PIRs. Tried a strip my work had spare and it looked great. But, we all agreed, it would be nice for them to dim up when the PIR triggers, then dim off again after the PIR timer expires. Say for example, couple of seconds to come on, and couple of seconds to go off...
