Fitting your own air con unit? Electrical Advice

Fitting your own air con unit? Discussion ThreadFitting your own air con unit? Electrical Advice

I have a large gym in the garden and it gets ridiculously hot in the summer.

I have utilised pretty much every inch of space and do not want to put a plug in air con unit that sits on the floor as it would just be in the way.

What puts me off a wall unit is the fact you have to get an F-gas registered engineer to fit and these guys are quite expensive. I would like to do it myself.

Do I need to use plastic back boxes for Lime plaster? Electrical Advice

Do I need to use plastic back boxes for Lime plaster? Discussion ThreadDo I need to use plastic back boxes for Lime plaster? Electrical Advice

The customer has specified plastic recessed back boxes and stainless steel screws for a rewire, as it will all be lime plaster. Is this absolutely necessary?

If so, I have found the marshall tufflex boxes, but finding the right screws seem harder. I can find 30mm stainless stell socket screws, but it would be great to have some 40mm and 50mm...

The switches are 5 pin latching on/off...

Hi all,

According to my calculations (CCT9) - I am getting a 50A breaker on the sockets in the changing rooms leaving me with a 10mm cable to install. The reason why is because I’m calculating the sockets at full load.

Cable length 13.4m
Design current of 40.70A
Ambient temperature of 40c
Ref method B
90 degree PVC conduit

Is this viable or do I need to rethink my design...

Underfloor Heating on 32 amps ring Discussion ThreadUnderfloor Heating on 32 amps ring Electrical Advice

We had our kitchen done a few years ago with underfloor heating. When the kitchen was done, a new CU was fitted and everything’s been OK so I didn’t really check anything. The breakers weren’t labelled which ----ed me off at the time so I labelled them all but forgot to check which circuit the floor was on. I just took a look and the floor is on the kitchen ring on a 32 amp...

Help!
Does anyone have a deta 20a mcb 6 or 10k. I’ve got a faulty 20a mcb that I’d like to replace so I don’t have to do anything more involved to split a ring main with open neutral end to end continuity.
It’s an old er version where the switch is black and the busbar splits around the bottom terminal screw.
I’m willing to if to pay if some one does.
Thanks

May seem like a pretty silly question, but can you issue a EIC without a building regulations compliance certifcate as long as the work is non-notifiable. Hi there, I feel this is a bit of a daft question but, we've received a batch of EICRs that are due in June. Apart from one landlord that asked for the test to be as close to the expiry as possible, no-one else has said anything.

I've been helping my "nephew" for the last few years so I suppose the expiry dates are popping up now. What's best practise? Is a month too close?
