Electric heaters contactor wiring question Discussion ThreadElectric heaters contactor wiring question Electrical Advice

Hi ,

I have been tasked with putting 4 , 2kw panel heaters in a portacabin .

I plan on wiring four 16a radials to each circuit ( fused spur at each heater). These will be controlled by a 24/7 time clock. Back at the CU.

My question is to do with the contactors .

I was planning on feeding the time clock with a control circuit which will switch the contactor...

Best way to maximise export of generated electricity? Discussion ThreadBest way to maximise export of generated electricity? Electrical Advice

I hope to install an 8kw panel array. I have spoken to 2 installers who both seemed a bit cagey about maximum export on a G99 Fasttrack application.
In short one says I am limited to 3.68kw (which I thought was automatic on a G98) the other said 7.68kw but was selling a 5kw inverter on the quote?

I am really confused so can anyone just tell...

Hi Everyone,

I’m currently working on an HMO where the supply cables run from the Ryefield board in the electrical riser to each apartment's utility cupboard.

At present, the armoured cable from the Ryefield board terminates in a Redhead fuse link, and from there, it connects to the consumer unit switch. From what I...

I need counsel!

The existing fixture was not 100 years but was apparently floating over the plaster?

No ground. No way to see which wire is which (does it matter in this case?)

There is no box on which to affix the bar to hang the new fixture and the existing...ummm insulation or something hangs out of the plaster around 5/8 of an inch. Nothing to affix anything to other than...

Hi All
Just spotted these Metal replacement covers for old plastic Wylex Consumer Units. I was just wondering what the forum's opinion is of them? I guess they're a bit of a fudge as you still have the plastic box frame behind it, but is it a total waste of time if you can't afford a new CU at the moment?

Eg. does it remove a...

I have an issue with my shower and I suspect it's the solenoid.
The original fault is that the shower either wouldn't switch on at all, or it very briefly powers on, see video

I removed the front panel and as you can see below, manually pressing the plastic arm starts the water flowing, and it is heated too (i know the danger of...

First off there is no question of me doing anything live. Or even near anything live.

This is just a question triggered by observing they guys installing our solar. They did everything live, including installing a new RCBO in the garage consumer unit and connecting the new circuit. None of our electrics were switched off at any stage.
