Just a little tip that you all might know... Discussion ThreadJust a little tip that you all might know... Electrical Advice

I've had a tiny problem with little spots of black mould around my bath. The guys who fitted out the bathroom were ----.
Cheap Silicon sealer will always yellow, and black spots are always a hassle.
I intended to redo it all, but time passes by...suddenly, I have a couple of visitors coming to stay, so I set about stripping out all the old sealant and applying...

CF20/CF20TX - Fan Replacement Discussion ThreadCF20/CF20TX - Fan Replacement Electrical Advice

I've been asked to replace an Xpelair CF20 extractor fan which has been recessed into the ceiling. I've had a rummage and managed to find a CF20TX in my store. On the Xpelair website it says...

Im on my NVQ, I have testing questions. Discussion ThreadIm on my NVQ, I have testing questions. Electrical Advice

Testing questions

I installed a socket outside (on a garden bar) which is run from a DB from the side building, fed from the main CU in the house on a 20amp.

The DB which feeds the garden bar has been turned into a TT system.

1. Would you do EFLi at the DB or main CU?

2. The 3core SWA is only connected to the MET in the CU, this is correct if im right in believing...

Quick Ring Spotlight pro hardwire question Electrical Advice

Quick Ring Spotlight pro hardwire question Discussion ThreadQuick Ring Spotlight pro hardwire question Electrical Advice

Looking at getting their hardwire kit, I'm assuming ok to use 3core cable to a 3pin plug instead of going directly to consumer unit or wiring to back of plug socketas seen in many youtube videos? The latter 2 I'd obviously get an electrician in but I'm capable of wiring a 3pin plug.
Thanks

Hi . Trying to rejoin NAPIT after about a 5 year break. I have submitted the evidence/photo of my C&G 2363 gained wayback in 1985, but its only showing the unit credits. They are saying I need my actual certificate even though the 'unit credits' are: credit, credit and distinction! So obviously a pass! I am trying to rejoin Napit after a 5 year break and it was...

Tested the cable going from first switch to rest of switches and getting a reading of 5.2 megaohms so can’t understand where the 0.01 is coming from...

Come across a few of these recently, EICRs that you're asked for an opinion on and all you can think of is asking if they have a printer that handles soft paper.

Highlights of yesterday's attempt included:

Limited to 30% of final circuits
"Currents (sic) feeding essential items shall not be isolated"
No entry's on "limitations agreed with"
No continuity readings at all - Lims in...

Evening all..

I've got myself into a bit of a pickle with trying to install a hive thermostat.

The house has a combi boiler.
There are 2 zones.. upstairs and downstairs.

In the wiring centre in the boiler there is one 5 core cable going into it.
L, N, E and the other 2 cores go to the terminal block labelled 'Room stat/timer' (see picture).

In that little 2 way...
