Showerforce 2000 - anybody replaced the mixer seals? Discussion Thread

Hi
This relates to an earlier thread
I have the above old shower which leaks ; you can no longer get the Showerforce Service kit to replace the seals
so I wonder if anyone has done this job and whether suitable seals can be sourced from somewhere?
This is what the mixer seals look like ; they have worn over time allowing a leak

I'm wanting to know where I can buy 2 top quality 115mm basket wastes in gold (ones that the gold colour doesn't wear off)
One with a rectangular overflow and one without overflow.
I'm aware McAlpine have one without overflow BSWPVD.
I've looked on Plumbers-mate-sales.co.uk and they don't have what I want.

Water appearing in washing machine when run kitchen taps Discussion Thread

Water appearing in washing machine when run kitchen taps Discussion Thread

Hi there!
When I run hot or cold kitchen tap, clean transparent water slowly appears in washing machine - this water smells - have to scoop it out! Not sure if issue is installation - washing machine is sited not far from sink (live in flat and kitchen small). Here is a picture of the piping work under my sink - any ideas why the water starts to fill in washing machine when taps are on? Could it be the inlet or...

W-plan pump run on Discussion Thread

W-plan pump run on Discussion Thread

Son recently moved into a 20 year old house with what appears to be a W-plan system using, I think a Worcester Bosch Greenstar gas boiler
He noticed that the rads were getting hot when the HW was on and I diagnosed the 2 position diverter valve (not 3 position valve!) was well and truly seized in the open position.
Having replaced tis expensive (£150) item HW now gets hot and the rads dont......until the cylinder thermostat temp is reached and the...

Boiler Fault

I’m hoping someone can help with this boiler problem. Couple have just moved into a house that has a Grant Vortex combi boiler. The current setup is a two channel programmer, turn the heating on at programmer & it calls for heat at stat that then returns to CH terminal inside boiler. Hot water from programmer on is wired to DHW port in boiler. Now it all works fine heating wise when it’s only the CH that’s on at the...

Unidentified noise in party wall Discussion Thread

Unidentified noise in party wall Discussion Thread

Hi 🙂 Please can anyone help to identify this noise in the wall between me and my neighbour? Complicated but will try to explain.
It occurs every few (7 - 10?) weeks, when it does it's very regular, every 21 mins plus a few seconds.. it's like a donkey - "squeak honk".. varies in volume. Continues for a few days like that, then stops. Sound file attached. Is this familiar to anyone??
It's only audible upstairs, in my bedroom. The...

Shower screen reinsert problem Discussion Thread

Shower screen reinsert problem Discussion Thread

Hi

I had to remove the glass panels from this quadrant shower cubicle and I'm struggling to get one of the screens back in place properly. The small glass panel is supposed to slide into the wall channel, and some holes in the side of the channel (inside the cubicle) should align with some holes in the frame attached to the glass panel, allowing for some screws to go in and securing the frame in place. My problem is that the frame...

shrewmouse Discussion Thread

Hi everyone nice to meet you, i'm Cath, homeowner, being driven mad by an unidentified noise in the party wall.
Am waiting for my grandson to come and help me create a sound recording and will then post a description on the diy thread in the hope that someone here may be able to help identify what's happening. Any advice as to what format the sound file should be? Thanks 🙂

How To Balance Radiators

Tool List:

Lockshield valve adjuster or adjustable spanner
Screwdriver
Digital thermometer or multimeter with thermometer function

Do I need to bother with traps at all?? Discussion Thread

Do I need to bother with traps at all?? Discussion Thread

I'm building a new off-grid house. I have a septic tank exclusively for WC's, but the bathroom has its own independent stone & gravel soak away which is straight into the ground and not connected to the septic, and obviously not connected to any main drains etc. Therefore, no sewer gases etc. Which makes me think - in this specific case do the bathroom fittings (sink, shower, and bath) even need traps??

Do I need to bother...

Looking for a cradle (Ideal Standard)!! Discussion Thread

Hi All,

I'm desperately looking for a cradle (the assembly that connects the flush unit to the cistern, in case I'm using the wrong terminology) for a discontinued Ideal Standard 2 button pneumatic system (Part number: SV93467). I really can't find it anywhere.

Can anyone recommend where I could get hold of one, or even have one available for purchase?

Thanks in advance

Seeping pipe connection to Loft Cold water Discussion Thread

Had a problem with hammering noise coming from pipes (triggered by hot water, though it could be eased if you put the cold water on).
Went through everything i could, checking joists etc. Problem appeared to be the ballcock in the loft cold water tank.

Ive replaced it but for the life of me i cant stop seepage out of the nut for the main connection. Though ive only tried

Water hammer/noise from pipework at night? Discussion Thread

I attended a Job where the customers complained about noisy pipes more often late at night bur sometimes in the day. While I was there, there was no issue but the combi boiler was set to preheat and they said they usually put the washing machine on late at night.

With their permission I turned off preheat to the boiler and added a mini shock arrestor on the cold feed to the boiler near to where they were hearing the...

Hi All
I need some advice as to a replacement power shower and there are a few problems
I have posted a photo showing the old unit ( a ShowerForce 2000 ); it has supply pipes which run down from the roof and into the left side of the unit as shown

I have heard that it is possible to get a reversed cartridge? that...
