I'm over boarding a ply floor with 6mm backer board in a couple of weeks time and wondered what fixings people recommend?
I'm presuming the ply will be 12mm so ideally I'd like them to be less than 18mm to avoid any pipework. Does this sound the way to go?

I have been offered a contract in Norwich, but we are at full capacity, and its just a little bit to far for us to undertake at the moment. I am looking for a good stone man local to the area, as some of these works might be out of hours. The works consist mainly of 70m2 of Jura, and an...
Hi, tilers! I am hoping what I want to do is not impossible. I have an outdoor table with a glass top. I would like to create a stained glass mosaic on the underside of the table (so that the surface will be completely smooth). Can you recommend an adhesive that would be:

Hi,
I was going to use some Mapei Super Flexible Adhesive I have kicking about (which I've just found out is specially fomulated for B&Q - which is ringing alarm bells as I'm sure it will likely be inferior). I rang Mapei and they said dont use that! Instread, sand the floor to create a key...

Bit unusual one. I am trying to line the base of 4 chimney alcoves with timber panel prior to plastering. The end effect being a plastered alcove with a timber 'floor' protruding from the wall like a windowboard. My question is what to use to fix the timber panel down - the substrate is...
Ok, I know it's a bodge, but I hate waste and I have perhaps a dozen tiles to go on the wall as a bottom row above the floor and I've run out of Adesilex P9. I don't want to spend £30 on a new bag for such a small area and I have half a bag of plasterboard adhesive which will also be binned if...

I've almost completed my bathroom. The only thing left to install is a glass screen for the wet area.
I have envelope cut tiles over a maxxus former.
I've been looking at various pictures and most screens seem to just fit into a channel fixed on the wall then a support arm to brace between...
Hi Guys and Girls
I ve got to lay some quartz tiles onto a bathroom floor on plyboard any ideas what type of adhesive(make) to use and any possible snags please?
Good evening. Went to look at a job today. 11m2 of black star galaxy granite to be fixed in an entrance hall and run into a downstairs toilet. What would you guys be looking at pricing per m2 for laying these tiles. The substrate is concrete which is currently covered with a wooden floor...
Hello all,
I've dot and dabbed MR plasterboard to bare block walls. They were skimmed but it was nowhere near flat and would prove difficult to tile with 400mm tiles, so it all came off.
I was wondering if people think it's a good idea to add some mechanical fixings as well, and if so, what...

I am new to this sight and was wondering what adhesive I should use to fix real brick slips to my chimney breast? I have had to remove my existing fire surround and open up the fireplace for installation of a wood burner. The plaster on the breast is solid but crazed so I thought brick slips...

Hi All,
What is the best way of fixing into Hardibacker (12mm) Do you use rawlplugs etc. or a hollow wall fixing? The Hardi is screwed to studwork and is now tiled.
All I need to fix is the rail for the shower, the water is fed from the digital controller in the loft through the rail and then...
I'm planning on fixing some 10mm glass with clamps such as these http://www.crlaurence.com/techdocs/PDF/UC77.pdf floor & ceiling but wondering how to fix to the floor without damaging the Dura C++ matting.
Can anyone advise on the best way to do this? Is there a way of fixing to the face of...
i am quoting to do a job where the following spec has been proposed over an existing rough concrete floor.
the reason for this system is because there is only 65mm to play with at the max from concrete to finished floor.
