Hi all,
New here so please go easy on me :)
As part of some refurbishment works I'm doing, I'd like to install a couple of shower wet rooms on the first floor. At the moment, the floors and walls are all WBP ply. I'm also having a wet UFH system fitted using an overlay board of 10mm on top of...
I've only ever used tilemaster tanking kit so I can't comment on others but what I am finding it the paste dries so fast on the walls, when it comes to applying the corner tape, you need to really paste up the back of the tape or you have no chance. You can literally paste the whole wall with...
Hi guys, quick question.
Is tanking primer that comes in the kits (everbuild aquaseal) suitable for priming walls prior to tiling that wont be tanked? I have alot of the stuff left id rather use up, was planning to use mapei plaster primer on remaining wall but its going alot furthur than i...
Hi, I have purchased a aquaseal waterproofing tanking kit, we have a bathtub with a shower over it. Bathtub is already installed many moons ago and not really equipped to remove it.
We have silconed between the bath (half filled) and the wall slightly below bath level. What i am unsure off is...

Hi guys
Just like your opinions on tanking onto the top of a shower tray. I currently seal the tray against the wall, mid way down the thickness of the tray. Then seal along the top of the tray and wall. Let that go off. Then tank onto that sealant followed by then placing the 'bandage' over...
Tanking out this shower, it's the 3rd one I've done in as many weeks where the plumbers have fitted this seal strip round the tray as they state it's waterproof!!
I've given this shower it's 1st coat of paste & then ran a bead of Silicon up the 2 internals ready for corner tapes.
It got me...
Got a job to quote for a customer who has specified that she wants the floor tanking. It's not a wet room or anything but she wants belts and braces approach, which is fair enough.
The subfloor is t&g floorboards, so was thinking of overboarding with 6mm Hardie and then tanking with paste and...
Hi Guys,
This is my first post so please be gentle! I will be as brief as I can
Basically I am creating 2 x new showers in a house (it’s a new student let house). One is a 800 x 800 corner unit, the other is a 1000 x 760 rectangular built in unit.
Both new bathrooms have been created using...

How come that the showers that I tile do not fail?
I have probably used a tanking system about 3 times (one job, Media City specified all the shower enclosures to be tanked but not the bath/shower combos) on separate jobs.
None of my showers fail and I have tiled on every substrate and used...
Bathroom will be tiled soon, probably upto a week from now.
However to save time I dont mind tanking the over bath area myself.
I have bought an aquaseal kit, in the various steps listed it says a minimum of 6 hours between first and second coat of tanking membrane. Hence time wasted around...

Can anyone help.
I understand that in wet areas before tiling the surface should be prepared correftly.
I see these terms all over to web and used interchangeably:
Primer, tanking, sbr, bond, pva and some others that sound similar.
Can anyone explain the correct procedure for preparing...

I'm looking to help a friend out by resealing there shower tray before they have a more major problem. Ideally I should rip out what is installed and start again but sadly there is not enough money in the pot for that.
The shower is in an alcove, is not tanked and has suffered a very minor leak...

ordered a tanking kit today to put on my hardibacker covered bath/shower but am left wondering if ive made a mistake?
i popped into a tile shop tonight and the guy there said why didnt i just paint it with £9 SBR as not only is it a primer, it waterproofs too!!!
comments appreciated
the bath has a 18mm ply covered in 6mm hardibacker behind the taps, concrete rendered wall/window by one of its long sides and a shower screen along the other.
as the shower will be spraying away from the hardibacker wall, is there any point in tanking?
