2 square metre board

Wow, foam board, eh... worth thought, too, I don't want it to break in half though! Love the link, just had a look at the site, they do different acrylics and plastics, too, so a chat with them might be useful. I felt I should get all the information first and then look at the price... thanks, guys!

Progress update of my "Wave of Creation" with hubby modelling so you can see how big it is. The large dark blue part will be balanced out by the green part to finish on the right and by the surprise of section no 5. Ideally any substrate should be cut exactly to the shape of the wave. And remain strong

Gisela what about perspex?Contact a local printer or sign maker who im sure could help you out.:smilewinkgrin🙁MOSAIC COULD BE GLUED)

Yes, Brian, I like the idea of perspex, too, the foam board link from MarkyD included perspex, too, so will give them a call. Getting exciting... :hurray:

Looks good Gisela...is Howard pointing to a missed piece..

Can you not use 1 inch square timber frame and then clad in plasterboard..?..much sturdier to move about then.

It's an option Dave, yes, not necessarily my favourite one though, as I want it to look sleek and 'sharp' from all sides if possible. It will have an expensive price tag on so will have to look the part... and it is an open wave, too, I'd like to keep it open, or on see through perspex maybe...... looking forward to making smaller pieces, I tell you... Don't you start giving Howard ideas... a few pieces have fallen off but I've got them all :ninja:....

Weight wise..perpex will be your best option....but you could still build a frame section for transporting it about..

Hmm.. yes, I will have to think it all through properly... I can 'see' it finished in my minds eye so I know I can get there, just details now, just details... 🙂

hi mosaic girl

i'd just lay 2 thin sheets of ply down next to each other , 2 @ 2x1 meter,
then i'd get a 2 meter piece of 2x2 timber and screw it all the way along the top, bottom, and a piece either side to frame it. i would then put a piece down the join and screw the ply to it either side..

this will be relatively inexpensive and not too heavy either..the frame provides the strength/rigidity you are looking for. think of the frame as a floor with you ply or any of the above sheet materials that have been mentioned in the previous posts and it will be fine.

ed
