Not at all!! Im really sorry mate.
I lost my cat a while ago and I cried like a baby for days, still get a lump in my throat every now and again.

I hope your wife is OK?

Jamie... I don't want to say too much here.. as i know dogs become family members quickly..

You did the right thing and i hope you and your family will have fond memories of Sid.

Dave..

Thanks. I know in my logical mind we did. You just can't help, right up to the last minute thinking 'there must be a way out of this'...pretty much the worst thing I've ever had to do. mostly cos the poor buggers trust you and don't know what's going on. I drove around until the kids were safely in bed so they didn't see me come home without him. We'll have to tell them tomorrow..not looking forward to that.

you'll be looking round the house for him for a few days Jamie, but you did the right thing imho:thumbsup:

Sad end jamie but you done the right thing,it's not your fault he turned on your wife but you have to protect her and your whole family:thumbsup:

Jamie, I'm not a dog lover, but I was sad to read your story (especially as I'm about to go to bed). I was hoping for a happy ending to this thread, but I guess this is life. Your Wife & family are more important. Sid probably had an illness or something. you definitely did the right thing. Cheers Sean

sorry to hear jamie, really feel for you mate.
Years ago when we had our first baby we had two dogs and one day they had a fight. I came home to find 'my' dog had been taken to a kennel as it was the most dangerous.(but never the instigator of the fight) Still miss her but I know it was always the right thing to do

sorry to hear the news Jamie. I missed my Barney terribly when he had to be put asleep when I was just 2 years old. he'd had a good life though and brought much happiness to my dad after his first wife died.

I was in our vets this morning and saw a sign for bereavement counselling via the vets surgery. i was most impressed with that.
