Adhesive For Painted Floor.

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

Hi looking for some advice one what adhesive would be best to use on a painted floor. The floor is a concrete floor topped with self leveling compound which has been painted with one coat of garage floor paint. Everything is sound and solid, no flaky paint of loose leveler. Tried sanding the paint back but it's very hard and getting no where. I was told to score the paint and it would be fine but didn't know what type of adhesive to use. The tiles are porcelain, any info or help would be greatly appreciated.

Ultra Prime it N can be used over floor paint though you'd then need to slc over it as it remains really tacky. Alot less mess than getting the paint up.

Agree it's always best to remove but good to have an alternative. I had a kitchen floor to do a couple of years back where the customer simply did not want the mess of removing 3 decades of floor paint so contacted both TileMaster and Ultra to see if they would/could offer an alternative to removal. Really surprised when TileMaster told me I could fix straight to it! Ultra recommended their Prime it N and Slc so that's the route I went. Been back since to do the cloakroom, kitchen floor still solid. That said, I'd still advise remove if possible.
