ive been to look at a few jobs where the tiled floor has long cracks 600mm apart,these are the joins in the green chipboard, which is another reason not to tile straigt on it,

dust isnt good either so i wring out my sponge and wipe over the immediate area to tile, you will see the dust on the sponge ,suprising amount sometimes, good luck buddy

I move in on the 18th Feb. I'll try and get started in the evening, if the misses needs me to do unboxing etc and putting stuff into rooms etc, then I'll make a start first thing on the Sat (19th).

For the marble tiles going onto the no more ply, I have a 6mm trowel for that, would that be ok ?

Also, a 6mm trowel for the Porcelain tiles going on to concrete ?

10mm minimum for me, round notch. Square notch 10mm will do the job though.

Just so that I learn a little as I go along, what is the reason for 10mm minium as to the 6mm I thought would be ok ?

To give a thicker bed of adhesive and helps you gain 100% coverage on the back of the tile, also a thicker bed of adhesive will take out any small deviation in the floor/wall and help you get a flatter surface.

You don't have to get a rubi one, just one that looks like that. Topps or tile giant or even b&q will do a cheaper version that will do the same job
