the noisier the better I say. at least then you'll know if somebody has been near your van

Chances are they'll probably just dump the Rubi as soon as they show it to their fence (dealer ?) and he laughs in their faces - keep a lookout in the hedgerows of Reigate.

maybe a gaurd dog chained to the bumper would be an idea,

a guard dog sat on the drivers seat would be more of a deterrant!

Are gang boxes widely available and used in the UK? One of our current jobs is in Washington DC. Nothing is safe there. We have all the really valuable stuff in gang boxes. The best brand is KNAACK. Some one would have to use a cutting torch to get into those boxes.
