Don't think bananas were available in England during the war - at least that's what my old dad says. He had to wait till 1949 before he had his first one ever.....
I used to eat banana sandwiches - if possible with a sprinkle of brown sugar.
Covers most major food groups including carbs, protien, fibre and plenty of potassium for brain food to boot.
Not had one for years. Perhaps that explains a few things.......
Also love peanut butter and salad cream and my nan used to give us jelly sandwiches as a treat......Yummmmm!
if you think banana sandwiches sounds bad, my old boy now in his 70s used to eat sugar butties, yes bread an butter with just sugar inside it. yuk.
peanut butter & thick cream, loved it the combination, i must admit i will give weird combinations a go sometimes its very nice:lol::lol:
