err, should it not be voluntary Stew, a bit draconian to say that the nhs has a right to your body and it's parts:yikes: after all, most of us pay NI contributions anyway.

oh my god, what a nightmare scenario that would be - where would that kind of attitude end??? in a few years time, give us one kidney, and a bit of this and that?? Shudder...

Major shortage of blood and donor organs in this country, and we would all expect to get them if we needed them. You could opt out if you want, so you do have a choice. And NI has no bearing on blood or organ donations. I personally know of a family that refused to give their sons organs up for donation, even though he had a donor card.......... but to top it all the father had received a liver a couple or years earlier!

My wife has had to ask the question several times with a less than 20% going for it. If we had an opt out system, it would remove the emotional trauma from the families that's associated with it. With blood, if everyone gave a pint a year, we would never have a problem.

I donate Stew, and carry an organ donor card, but surely you can't expect it to be any more than voluntary can you?

if gave blood for 25 years palying rugby but i cant do needles except the one at the dentist I dont know why but that doesnt bother me at all but i struggle to even have my blood pressure taken dont think i would make a good junkie

Donor cards should be a All in club unless you opt out then no problem .

you know when they stick a plaster on the puncture wound, well one time the old lass that was sticking them on put one on a freckle that I have in the crook of my arm instead of where it was bleeding:lol:

The problem is Doug, far too few people do, but expect to receive. We should all be responsible for the greater good, and i think an opt out system would go a long way to doing that.

Seriously Does anyone object to donating if your dead ? I Totally understand if its your kid and i truly hope that no one has experianced this dilema but i wouldnt do it if my kids died but other than that go for it
but i would like to know who it helped as i think it would help to ease a little pain !
