to be honest i have only plyed small bathroom floors before and ive used 6mm plywood before ive not had any trouble with it

same here small areas, but tons of screws.
only because of height . with 12 mm
but have made a fuss of it .no movement before tiling.
never had any probs.

(when you think they addvertise addhesive to go stright on to tounge and grove floor boards) with no ply at all ...

Who's the tiler here...?....tell the joiner to stick to what he knows and leave the tiling to you........just tell the customer its 12mm or nothing..get someone else....or tell them to come on here and we will tell them what is required...........

well said Dave like it when u go all masculine lol

British Standard says it's 18mm ply, not just 12. It's just 12 is used as a comprimise to 6 and 18. Though it's a risk at the tilers cost in some cases - though a good adhesive manufacturer should back you up a little if things do go wrong in the future.

Ive started a job this week where the builder has put 6mm ply on the bathroom floor ive told the customer twice it should be 12mm and i could not not give a guarantee if we do not use the 12mm she spoke to the builder and he said he would guarantee the tiles will be ok so thats good enough for her so the 6mm is staying down :mad2:
