Wow I'm learning a hard lesson. But I'm absolutely loving it. Even making notes on where I'm going wrong and what I could have done different.
So we left off last time with the issue with the heating. This has been re-channelled to half way between the 2 loose laid wires.
Now for the levelling. Easy for most I'm guessing, but this is a new first for me. never had to level a floor before, even without underfloor heating. Was given a good suggestion of putting some "runners" down the floor, pouring the SLC and running it over with a straight edge. Not got a straight edge...... but did have a nice long straight bit of 2x4 in the shed, so improvised. Next problem, with the UFH found it near impossible to lay any runners.
So I used the 2x4 "free-hand". Took some balancing and a steady hand, but got it close to what I deem as perfect (but then again, I have low standards 🙂). Kinda wish I had a spike roller, but will get one for next time.
Last night, I started tiling. Did all the correct measuring out, loose laid the tiles in each direction to ensure the cuts wouldn't be pap. Know now where all the cuts will fall so nothing left to do now.
Done 3 rows so far. Got me spacers, lip clips, spirit level. Now thinking "should got that spike roller". I see know that the spirit level doesn't tell the whole story. But a bit of adjustment in the bed and all is going well. Will do some more tonight and tomorrow, aiming to finish on Wednesday night.
More pics to follow.
