I was asked by my suplier to take a look at a repair yesterday, the customer had the builder tile her shower room in tumbled 100x100 trav. He didnt do to bad a job with the fixing but he grouted it in with Mapei Ultra colour (fast setting) and left it to dry over night! The next day he sealed it and left it as a finished job! How do people get away with things like that? :mad2:

Re: Cowboy!!

Re: Cowboy!!

And makes you feel great when the customer has a heart attack when you tell them how much its going to be to put right.
Why do I always get the sweet old ladies that have been ripped off?

If its only a small shower it wouldn't take long to put it right on tumbled Trav. Why not do it for her?

It is all the walls and floor, not just the shower area. Iv given her my price but im to busy to bring it down any lower and I dont work for fun I need to pay the bills!

Who is going to pay for the work to be done then - the 'poor cow/sweet old lady' or the builder.
Your advice should be for her to get the builder back - take off the tiles - make good the walls - get him to supply new materials - and she can then get someone to do the job correctly.
There is no point in having ' didn't do a bad job tile fixing' if the grouting is sub standard to the extent that the tiles are ruined.
So how - if your quote is accepted - are you going to put it right.

sorry if im missing the point here, when you say it was left overnight to dry after grouting, do you mean it wasnt cleaned off?
If thats the case then the builder should be brought back to take the tiles down and replace them.
