:furious3: I tiled a kitchen floor today for a kitchen firm i tiled nearly 3 quaters then went for my dinner then when i came back in the house the customer said i ve stood on one of your tiles i thought 1 is not too bad went into the kitchen she stood on about ten tiles i wasnt to pleased and she could tell then she said woukd it be fine if you sorted them out and i just mumbled under my breath then she burst into tears. i tried to sort the floor out as best i could she stood on so many tiles she offset them

i was told by the kitchen firm that she is a fussy customer she has changed her mind on the kitchen units and sockets twice and she watches you all day what a nightmare

White Room

A guy I know was doing a big extension and had sold the house before he had completed all the works. I was tiling his kitchen and hallway 50 m2 and the couple who had bought the house kept coming round to check how things were going, Just tiled a big area and they came stomping in, kids in tow straight across the bloody tiles I'd just laid, Oh sorry :mad2:

Droopy

I've had it a few times.
Done work in a factory corridor, had a no entry sign up on the door into it along with two pieces of timber crossed over blocking the door and red and white barrier tape across it and tied to the handles. Yet at lunch time we still had the morons who worked in the place coming through it.
:mad2:

Another time I tiled a bathroom floor that had UFH.
As it was a wooden overlay, I had used a two part flexi adhesive.
The customer was one of those guys who likes to watch you tile, and see everything you've done before you've even done it.
I knew he was desperate to get into the room to have a nose around, so warned him not to, as the adhesive took a while to set.
He assured me he would 100% stay out.
Next day I go back to grout and there are two tiles moved right at the door and ahdesive pushed up through the joints all over the place.
At first he denied he stood on it, but he must have known he was a terrible liar and eventually appologised.
I then told him that I could not gaurantee that I wouldn't damage his UFH ( it was a like a thin plastic with a foil circuit printed on it) if I lifted the tiles, so he said just to leave them as they were.
His daughter had just started a company selling these UFH kits, and having her kit working was more important to him than the floor looking 100%.

I've had it several times.

One of the most annoying was a barn floor (120m2 porcelain 400 x 400). Customer was a Lord and Lady "Wotsit", so Lady Wotsit visits one day to see how work is progressing just as I have done the tiles and cuts to the main entrance. I laid a scaffold plank from the door sill to the tiles that had been fixed the day before and as she entered told her what tiles to avoid. No sooner had she said "okay, I'll avoid those", her size 6 was all over them. The adhesive was that fresh that she literally skidded across the floor.

I re-fixed all the tiles that she had mullered during her skating demonstration whilst she was upstairs examining all the other work that was taking place. When she came down I asked her to exit via the side door as I'd just fixed all the tiles again. Next thing I hear a surprised exclamation from her as she slid across the floor again! She almost left with a rusty screwdriver embedded in her forehead!

I did one once and as the fella came into the kitchen I told him to avoid walking on a cetain strip leading to a back room he said it's ok I'll breathe in and hold ma breath, imagine the look on my face.

That is top f'n drawer quality. Something out a carry on film reminds me of that !

Done a shop that had closed down for a total refit. Owner kept walking all over the newly laid tiles, and I lost count of the times I asked him to stay off.........the shop fitters where great.......all 6 of them...........but this bloke just would not be told. When he came in pulling a pallet truck loaded up with gear I lost it and shouted at him to **** off if he thinks he's coming in with that..........the fitters where on the floor laughing.

Job had finished, and I got my money, but within days he was on the phone about broken tiles.........I said I'm not surprised as I was told he had stomped all over them 5 mins after I had left for the day.

Went back in after a few weeks..........the floor was a bloody mess of broken/cracked tiles..........this guy just did not have a clue on anything:mad2:

Was in the shop last week.........they are still all chipped and cracked............after 3 years

It happens.
The worst incident was in Peace River at a hotel we were redoing.
We put up stanchions with rope and tape and signs and numerous other barriers and repeatedly told the staff to stay off, but they would find a way and we had to redo some areas a few times.
We figured out which areas were trouble pretty quick and kept an eye out.
Wanted to throw some thinset a few times.
The funniest incident there was the hallway leading to the bar from the lobby and at midnight we had finished with our self-leveler pour which was pretty thick for that stretch and went to bed.
Went to look before breakfast at about 6 am and there were footprints about halfway into the hallway about 20 feet which then turned around and left (through the barrier)
We asked the girls at the front counter what the hell had happened and they said a guest had come to the front desk naked as a jay bird with just cowboy boots and hat on asked some incoherent questions about the bar and then proceeded to go into the hall (into our just poured self leveler)

It didn't take too much to fix it and the owner of the place did spot us a bar tab for the extra hassle.:8:

We put in a fancy 12 foot diameter mandala which we had templated and cut with brass strip arced around the perimeter and so we put an 8 foot tarp around the whole area to keep the pests out.
Took too long just to cut the pieces to want to do it again.

And to top it of my zip and button burst on my pants so had to some how carry my tools down stairs past the front room without my pants falling down....well i managed to do it until i got to my van and they was down to my knees...the little sh*ts was like "mummy the mans pants have fell down hahahahaha" I felt like strangling them..:furious3:
