Droopy

Used to have a problem with a painter squad that worked with same builders I subbied to used to laugh when they stood on fresh tiles go oops sorry. Third time it happened had one of them half out a window by the throat and then it never happened again. Strange seeing a grown man cry
Years back we were on a site and the painters were all knobheads too.
Used to get in your way at every chance.
One afternoon we had just started setting out a kitchen, and these muppets came in and started glossing all the architraves and doors.
I told them we were just about to start tiling, but they got all stroppy and said,
"Big kitchen mate, there's plenty room for us all"
"Okay, yer right pal, you carry on", my mate says.
And we carry on setting out the room.
Then when these tossers have a couple of doors all glossed, out came the big sweeping brushes and me and my mate start sweeping up the dusty floor and F'd up all the gloss work.
Mr Painters faces were priceless:lol:

I was on a job yesterday, and about midday i went to the bathroom floor i was going to tile, and i painted on the primer to stick my ufh, i told everybody on site not to walk on the primed floor, after lunch i went back up there and the guys fitting the carpets had walked all over it, i knew it was them as they had taken there trainers of while they were laying the carpet and the soles were green, so i walked in the room they were fitting the carpet with my trainers (checked to make sure they were clean first) and they went mad at me, i said sorry its annoying when people walk all over your floor isnt it...:furious3:

used to do alot of commercial work and it happened all the time , no matter how much you cordoned off an area and warning signs some moron would breenge through , strangest person to walk over me tiles was a nun, told her to stop at the door as she gaily stomped over them , felt like sending her to meet her god he he ....

Some people are just wired wrong and they delight in slowing down others or mucking about with them.
When I am driving around I more frequently see these people who are walking fast on the sidewalk and then slow down to a snail crawl going across the street and they know damn well that you are waiting for them and if you honk the horn they give you "the look" as if you are the one in the wrong.
It's weird.:mad2:
Gets much worse I'm going to mount a nice little water cannon onto the truck.
Well, I would like to .

I have just found this thread, I know its from a while ago but this happens often, I have it it a few times and I just calmly explained to the customer that you will have to pay for standing on the tiles, I will not under any circumstances fix tiles that someone has walked on for free, no way, not today and not tomorrow. If someone bumped into your van/car would you get out and say "oh never mind, its my fault as much as yours?" nuff said.

I can remember two experiences:

1. i had installed a 2m2 50x50 victorian path in rapid set, the property was vacant, and it had railings and an iron gate.
I put a twisted metal coat hanger around the iron gate and railings (it took 5mins to twist it round).
as i sat and ate my lunch i watched a leaflet distributor start to undo the coat hanger, i jumped out of my van, threw my lunch and only manged to stop him half way in! luckly he only damaged the still wet border!

2. i installed an underfloor heating system in a lounge/diner i had poured self level and went home.
i returned the next day to see 7/8 leaflets and a free newspaper embedded in the screed!
lesson learned, when using a leveler and there is a front door screw some wood on the internal side of the door!

i have a pic of no1.

i,m going back some years now , but when we worked on Safeways refits we used to have it approx every refit. From the shelf stackers, cleaners and even other trades:yikes:.
We would replace areas of terrazzo tiles in the aisles then flood grout with cement. we would barrier the area off with tape put a few bread crates around make it physically out of bounds, go a have a coffee and find some knob couldnt be arsed to go down another aisle:incazzato:
I tell you when we found out who had walked on any of our areas we would let them know.
Shelf stakers we would just run our arm along the shelf they just finished staking AND SAY " NOT NICE IS IT WHEN SOMEONE RUININS YOUR WORK" then walk away..

Cleaners We would (a) put a whole 5ltrs of cleaning fluid and may be some fairy liquid.
(while sing im forever blowing bubbles)
or (b) flood the cleaners cupboard, which would then flood the warehouse.
Contractors
We only had 1 contractor that walked on our tiles and he just shrugged his shoulders.:mad2:
So 1 time we was in the canteen having a coffee he came in and put a pizza in the oven for his dinner, so 1 of the blokes decided that the temp on the oven be turned up , we waited for him to turn up and ive never seen anyone eat a completely burnt pizza .

Let me say that these were done some 14 yrs ago and i would never do any thing like this now ( i hope im more wiser to ourcome these arse holes)
