Just a quickie, is it ok to shorten the cold tail section of a heating cable and also the floor probe.

Have seen what a mate has put down in his bathroom and thinking of doing the same although in mine there would only be about 0.5m length of 'cold tail' required to reach the site for the thermostatic contoller. Cold tail on mates cable must have been close on 2m. Could always just shove the excess in behind the plasterboard if cutting isn't an option.

thanks

There is no problem shortening the cold tail of the heating mat or cable, these are normally just a flexible cable.

Also, just in case anyone was wondering, you can normally extend cold tails by using a joint (box) and more suitably sized cable.

Warm Regards,

Peter:thumbsup:
