lol, you would of thought he'd be pretty good at dot and dab! Sounds to me like another job rushed into without the proper care and attention needed.
Nat in my opinion there is absolutely no reason for your tiles to be dot and dabbed. The very fact that they have replaced the boards as well. If the walls are uneven after the event then it is there fault. They replaced the walls.

This picture you posted before Nat doesn't show any need to dot and dab the tiles. Some of your other pictures showed painted walls so they were clearly not replaced. But this one in particulr, you can see the new board. The dabs behind the tile actually look fairly even. And although the picture only shows 6/7 inches max. There is no clear bow or deviation in the border to justify incorrect fixing methods.

And then there's the question of using tubbed adhesive to do it............

Just catching up on your thread Nat. Whilst stopping for lunch in the van.

Is that 9mm plasterboard used. ?

Also what re-boarding is in the contract ? , it's all fine to say he should have done this and that regards boarding out but what have you and him agreed to in your contract ?

This in now way excuses his method of tiling , just finding what was agreed at the job costing stage.

Fair point Dave.

But if the walls weren't good enough to be tiled and needed additional work then it needed to be bought to the customers attention before a tile was even fixed.

I agree hence why I asked.

Would you do prep work that wasn't agreed too ? , so just getting a full picture of what is what prep wise.

No way.
I do agree with you Dave.
Monday Monday. Not having a good start to the week myself perhaps my frustration was showing in my reply.
No i wouldn't repair if i hadn't quoted. Not without speaking to the customer first. But if it was that bad that i couldn't fix the tiles correctly i wouldn't of fixed a single tile.
