Buffalo Tiler

In all my 6 years of tiling (Ok ots not a lifetime) ive never had a customer cancel on me as im arriving on site, Jobs been booked in for 3 weeks materials and steel trims have been purchased. She said that she had meant to ring me to say that she has a friend that "reckons he can do it"....good luck with that love, my fingers are crossed that it goes pear shaped for ya! Sorry bout the rant but Im fuming and without a days work now! Shall I send her an Invoice for materials and wasted time or do I not have a leg to stand on? Aaaaarrrrgggghhh:incazzato::mad2:

Its besides the point Doug, I can use the materials on another day/job..... Just fuming at the cancellation to be honest mate, its dam rude in my eyes for not letting me know considering i spoke to her friday and all was still on. Annoys me that prob not the first or last! Im gonna send her an invoice anyway i think (paid or not) then hopefully next time she'll have the decency to not leave some other poor tradesman outside in the cold on a freezin morning!

Sounds Horrid Doug

I have never had this, ever - If it helps for the future - ie when your steam pressure has dropped a bit, you might consider doing something similar to us.

We provide a very very detailed quotation and contractual document for every job - I mean every job no matter how small. We then we ask the client to commit their instructions to proceed in writing / email / letter etc.

Then we confirm and advise start date and any other contractual / material requirements etc. We also have a standard terms and conditions of business for clients and offer them a copy if required.

I know this sounds heavy, but we don't work unless this done properly and the customer knows exactly whats involved and we are sure as well. No ambiguity and all is well.

This is the sort of thing that can be discussed in TF ARMS and I might ask Dave / Dan to start a discussion on this topic.

Looking back now i should have definately got some kind of email confirmation to start the job, which i do try to do on larger jobs! You live...... you learn!
