hi Andy, were really sorry but were going to have to cancel the tiling due to lack of funds, sorry its short notice....

this was sent to me at 9pm last night, and im ment to be doing the job today, and i quoted the job 2 weeks ago, so its taken them 2 weeks to discover they have a lack of funds...:mad2:

it was only a days work, but im still unable to pull anything forward at such short notice, makes my blood boil, another day off without pay, and worst still i made the mistake of telling the wife who is in the process of compiling a 'to do list' for me......:mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2:

That sucks man! Luckily I've never had that happen. Never tell the Mrs. Hide out at suppliers all day. Free coffee & cakes all day with a bit of banter on the side lol. My Mrs has a huge to do list!!
Could always tidy the van, sort the books, follow up quotes. There's always something "BUSINESS" related you could do ;)

Andy, get a deposit, even if it's only a small job. It then shows commitment from the customer. They are less likely to pull out of a job when they have already put money up front.

It's a sickener. Have you lost the job completely or has it just got to be moved due to their inability to add a few numbers up?

I always get a deposit. Soon as i start discussing start dates with customer then they get pencilled in the diary.
As JB say's even if its a small cash amount to show willing. Non-refundable of course.

How big was the job? At such short notice i'd be suspicious that you've either been undercut or they're going to have a go themselves.

its only a small floor, they had all the materials there, so my thoughts were the same, there doing themselves or mr handy mans doing it for a pittence and they forgot to let me know till the last min..

this is the problem when its just a small job, most customers are reluctant to give deposits when your not supplying anything....
