Hello, please bare with probably a v straightforward question - I;ve cut the tiles for behind double sockets, and I've unscrewed the sockets and laid the tiles. But I'm having BIG trouble screwing them back in. My mum's friend is crying she needs to boil the kettle etc but I don't want to switch the sockets back on until they're screwed in! Is it a simple case of buying longer screws? They're only normal width ceramic 'metro' tiles.
Lastly, what's the general rule re. cooker switches, especially if the socket protrudes out from the wall more?
Thanks v much in advance, mum's mate's well cracky without a brew!

yes! sam just use longer screws if the old ones don't reach....you can get them at any electrical shop or diy centre........50mm ones usually do the trick..but you might need to trim them to length...also don't tighten them back to much as the socket might crack or dislodge a freshly fixed tile.....wait till they are dry to tighten back....

Longer screws or screw extensions is all you need.

Finally, I could actually get my reply to be posted, it kept saying something like "invalid thread specified" and wouldn't post it.

That,s because sam posted the same thread 4 times in different forums...because she couldn't find the original..so i had to sort them out into this one......

CEF, or any electrial wholesaler will do long and extra long socket screws, cheaper than a diy store that sell in packs of 3 when you need 4...Can't think why they do that eh...?!
