You have to get another tiler back and bin this one because its good money after bad. Dont let him try and rescue the job.

Yes get all the tiles off and start again. And its the small claims court...

Good luck with that. Must be a heartbreaker.

Don't think anyone would feel safe with this muppet back on the job again.

I'm gonna ask, I know others are thinking???

Wot did this clown quote you for this abortion of a job.

UPDATE>>>

Didn't get round to taking the floor up yesterday, but have just done it.

20 minutes. The tiles popped off. The adhesive had barely stuck to the back of them! The latex screed has mostly flaked underneath, and so we're basically back to where we started with the floor.

TILES HAVE BEEN SAVED!!!

Interestingly, the tile with the cut inwards into the floor... the one he said he must have just put it in the wrong way round... it was cut both sides. So he knew full well what he was doing. On that basis, I think we've got every right to not want him back to correct his mistakes as his work was essentially negligent - and unsafe!!

News as it comes,
Scott

I tell you what Scott, this is more exciting than breaking news on Sky! :whatchutalkingabout

Judging by your pics, when you do get this sorted you, will have a fabulous looking bathroom

(We asked if he had Public Liability Insurance... "Of course I have," he replied.

So we're going to go down that route)

public liability doesn't cover putting right bad workmanship but does cover if you cut your foot on a sharp tile

Scott remember to take photos of each stage of the repair process, from the removal of the tiles to the finished result keep notes of all the conversations you have with the "tiler" and if you have any meetings with him make sure you have a witness with you. I know this sounds extreem but if this goes to court it will be a less stressfull experience for you and your family if you are prepaired. This guy wouldnt have a leg to stand on.

Good Luck

Mac

Hi Scott,
As everyone else has said this is clearly very sub standard work!!! to say the least. I feel from what you said you have lost all faith in him, from the pictures and the way he has lied and shown a clear lack of knowledge then i am afraid i would bite the bullet and put this down to experience. You could try to take him to a small claims court but you have no gaurantee of winning .Like all the other replies i would strip out carefully and start again.Every fault would constantly eat away at you as you use the bathroom .
The way to find a good tiler is through recomendation,a good trade supplier of tiling materials should be able to give you several phone numbers.Get at least 3 estimates, ask to see pictures of any previous work ,any tiler worth his salt will be able to send you to see previous customers work.A good job will stand out a mile.Im sorry you have had such a bad experince there are some excellent tilers out there you just have to find them, plus if they are any good then they should be busy,ie not able to start tomorrow,
good luck,
Hants tiler
