Hi. I used the ultra-colour beige the other week and I had to mix it in 2 batches as the floor area was over 10m2. When the grout had cured fully there was a slight difference in the shade. Luckely not noticeable for the customer but I could see a difference. I used my sparky to mix at low speed and mixed both batches quite dry then left to stand for 3 minutes then added a little water to get it smooth. Please can anyone advise me on the correct way to mix as I don't want to lose confidence in this product

Mapei supply callibrated mixing buckets - it is imperative that you get your water to powder ratio correct - if you get it wrong there will be a drastic difference in shade -either too light or too dark - don't wipe it off to early either, wait till it is going off to the touch.
Can get nasty results if you don't use it properly

Good point Leatherface, I've heard the same but can't find one of the buckets so do guess work.

Give us the old aviator mate:grin:

You can get large capacity buckets with measuring guides on them from CTD....about 3 squid i think...

we use in the region of 50-70 pallets a year.the best adhesive is ardex for a quality and high yield, unfortunately the mark up price is double compared to mapei .i have been using these for 1 year now and the kerraflex is one of their best products.dont like the ultracolour grouts as they go off to quick .best solution is the kerracolour gg or ff which is suitable for porcelain

Hi I am about to lay 20 sq m of travertine floor tiles, which I have just bought. Went to Topps today to get some adhesive - got bowled over when they quoted me £239, needless to say I didn't buy. Noticed that Trade Depot has Buildfix Rapid Set Flexible adhesive from Mapei, but cannot find reference to this particular one on the Mapei web site or a data sheet. Does anyone know if the white is Ok for Travertine going on to a real solid concrete screed floor. Thx.

always reccomend white adhesive for travertine.if you use grey the trowel marks show through..mapei kerraflex white will be the same as what you have seen probabley name it different for the diy store

The only rapid set Mapei you speak of is for quarries and ceramic and only comes in grey, So would'nt suit travertine.
There's Keraquick for natural stone and comes in white

The buildfix is an adhesive that B&Q are selling...I believe it is made by Mapei but have no confirmation of this....

The prices that i have seen are quite expensive really....

Thanks for replies, didn't know B&Q had it, I saw it at Trade Depot for £17 per 20kg bag, I thought that was quite reasonable compared to Topps. What would you advise to use for Travertine in other brands. Don't have to use Trade Depot as its not that convenient for me.
