around 70,000 in the uk. they make a difference in lots of ways without the unititiated even knowing about it. £20million from the UK to charity in 2007. Often the first to respond to national and international crises including haiti, new orleans, 9/11, chinese earthquake along with loads of local charities.

I make no secret of my membership these days. It's never really done me any good in business apart from perhaps easing the wheels of conversation with people I come across in business who are in the order. At the same time it has done me no harm either. And I get a good feed......

oh Alan... bet the missus loves you. are you as bad as my Dad? at one point he was a member of at least 4 different lodges and was out nearly every night of the week :ninja:

No Liz. I am only a member of one lodge. I do know people who are what I call "professional Masons". That does not appeal to me though.

1 night a month - 8 months of the year plus the occasional visit

my dad would be what you call a Professional Mason  he's choosy now as to which lodges he wants to be part of, seen as he's worked his way through the ranks

count me in there as a member, in the lodge, arch, knights templar and cryptic council and lodge and council, since my wife passed am out 4 nights a week so guess am what they would call a pro, i get out what i put in

in scotland its different, we pay a lump sum upfron then a yearl dues fee but our meals are cheaper bout 3 quid, my bruv in law pays roughly 20 for his meal but got to admit its way better, agree its dying as young uns are not interested, i like the history and social side, scottish masons were the single biggest donatoer to chas a couple of years ago

if we can help we will

andy

me too, lodge & arch. Although I've been non-dining for the past few years as I couldn't get to the meetings when I was working the commercial circuit.

Hope to pick up the meetings again soon though
