i got the same message and thought i had said something wrong so there is a problem with it if people think they have done something wrong
The reason the Professional tag is given is to allow people to discuss tiling issues that they have problems with, with more experienced guys out of the public view. I.e. in the Forums Arms. Just because he has only been to a "2 week course" doesn't mean to say he is not a professional tiler. If that is the way he/she wants to make their living that is his/her choice. Whether their standards are adequate is entirely a different matter!aye its ok to give out yellow cards ive no problem with that
but i would like to know the specific post that brought on the refs displeasure
oh and while I'm on my soap box
why give people the professional tiler tag when its blatantly obverse they have absolutely no idea how to do the job and have only completed a couple of weeks in some training school
it makes a mockery of the trade i served a seven year apprenticeship too
end of rant
i,ll get my coat
like it or not its false advertisingGrumpyGrouter has explained quite clearly why this message has appeared and i dont see a problem with it at all.
As for the tags, thats the way it is and always been for as long as i have known. When anyone who is starting out in tiling , maybe completed a course in tiling etc eventually gets his/her business cards or a sign written van. They are hardly likely to advertise as "Wall and Floor Tiling Newbie with limited experience" are they? They would have something like "Wall and Floor Tiling Specialist"
Its purely a Tag and hardly worth a discussion IMO
Don't see why it would be false advertising. All they are doing is letting people know of a service that they can provide. Whethere their standards are as high or higher than someone else doing the same job is irrelevant, it is up to the potential customer to satisfy themselves that they can provide them with an adequate service. it is after all a free market economy. You have the choice of shopping at Tesco or Sainsbury, you make that choice on what your perceived requirements are.like it or not its false advertising
theres telling the paying public theres something there clearly not
and there was me wondering why the building trade was getting such a bad nameDon't see why it would be false advertising. All they are doing is letting people know of a service that they can provide. Whether a person has been tiling 2 weeks or 10 years they are entitled to market themselves as they see fit as long as it does not contravene the laws of the land. Having "Floor and Wall Tiling Specialist" on your van or documentation does not contravene any laws as far as I am aware!
