Just a thought - but can you use the Sparky one handed?

I notice it has two handles, side by side. Reason I ask, is that I keep thinking about buying one (specially as Screwfix has 10% off until Saturday) But then I think to myself, that this may be a flaw. Currently I use a Metabo drill and paddle, which I can use one handed, while I add powder with the other hand. Some mixers are designed the same way (they look like drills, but have an extra grip at the top) whereas the Sparky has 2 handles. So I wonder if it can be used only with one hand - or always requires 2 hands?

Paul
i had the dewalt mixer drill and used it for about 4 years the trouble was it was a chuck based mixer and the paddle kept working itself loose, 2 years ago i bought a two handed mixer with the screw in paddle and it was a massive difference the two handles are beneficial when mixing large buckets of levelling compound or large buckets of addy the sparky mixer is really well priced and a good bit of kit imo it can be used one handed by the way

Stop mentioning the Fein and the Washboy :'(

Until I started reading this forum, I'd never heard of them - nor for that matter had I heard of £60 diamond wheels for my £80 plasplugs cutter :'(

Now I want one of each - its all money, money, money, spend, spend, spend.

Your quite right, it does add up and it seems never ending at the start. I bought a tool every month, from kangos, fein, washboy, mixer, rubi wet cutter etc etc. Now thank goodness im fully kitted out with backups of most things and im quick and i get to keep most of my pay...along with the revenue ofcourse!

Just happened across your thread while looking up about washboys.

Caught my eye as I've been looking at the possibility of using a mixer for adhesive - and plaster, since I do the odd bit of plastering. Been using my trusty Metabo Drill for 2 years - its a gutsy beast, but I'm sure its not doing it good, mixing takes a lot of torque. Had seen the Sparky @ screwfix - and had been wondering if it was any good and what difference it would make compared to a paddle with my drill. So your post kind of answers that one.

Big Thanks

Paul

I've had my sparky for 3 or 4 yrs, mixed lots of plaster (it will easily mix a full bag of multi or bonding) and tile addy, still got lots of life in it....would recommend it all day long..Mark.

hi guys ,got my de-walt mixer nicked out my van one night,to lazy to unload and paided the price,b*****ds, anyway reoplaced with the sparky mixer well impressed better than my x de-walt cheers guys Neil.

Bad luck for the theft - but glad you managed to replace it easily with something even better.

Paul

Still a drill and paddle man myself

Me too, quality paddles for under a tenner from tiletrader and it means i've always got a drill in the van, only time it struggles is with plasterboard addy. I will get a mixer one day.......

when you see the mixing paddle that comes with the sparky you will change your mind its rock, the best paddle i used for a drill is the stanley one from b&q at a tenner.. one of the best thing about using a proper mixer is that its so less messy , because of its slow start and lower speed you dont get so much addy all over the ship...
