Need help identifying substrate please.

It just looks like plaster finish mate - If it's hard and sound enough and not loose at all, the I personally would treat it as gypsum plaster and prime with Primer G before fixing with cement based adhesive such as P9 or Keraflex

The wall is sound, Ive seen alot worse in new builds 🙂 I'll talk to the customer and see what he thinks. Properly primed and with the right adhesive, I'm pretty sure it will bond.

If you run your hand over it does it does feel course, as if it has aggregates in it

I'd make every effort to identify it, and then take it from there. We probably need some better pis to be honest

No, its a nice smooth finish.

I will borrow a camera, and try to go round tomorrow after work and get better pics.

Don't like the stuff I was refering to, if you run hand over it can be very course and scratch the hand
