I wouldn't hesitate to screw on quarter inch hardi-backer and not have to worry about tile adhesion because that's what hardi-backer is for, never second guess yourself mate, some callbacks can be expensive, good luck,Mike

Update: Basically, I lost the job because he had tilers round who told him it would be fine to tile onto the walls. So I bid him good luck, and that was that. Problem solved 🙂

I got a phone call today asking if I can save the job  he kicked the guy out, and wants me to tile the floor (marble) as he doesnt want that guy doing it.

 I start tomorrow evening, and well blow me down, my price has gone up a bit 🙂

I love a tiling story with a happy ending, you've got to show us the wall pics,we know it's not your work ,we'll just file it under the "That's what you get when you go cheap and hire a hack file"

Apparently after the tiler left for the day on the first day, the customer removed his trim round the window, and put mitred cuts in instread of the butted up mess he left.

I mean, how do you even contemplate getting away with that?! :yikes:

I'm gonna start butting trim on jobs in future in the hope that customers will mitre them when I go home.
