40m2 a day??? I used to be fast and rough, but lately i seem to have lost my speed.....@Phil Hobson, (used to be your signature I think Phil ha ha)

iv'e worked with a team of tilers in liverpool who come on this forum and trust me, they could do some serious meters and i mean serious meters, problem is, they used a few, 'how shall we say', unethical/dubious techniques ;0) don't get me wrong, their work was acceptable and it always got passed but its not how you'd want it doing on your house lol

That was tongue in cheek doug, I was never rough. I was fast though, And yes with 6"x6" I did a full bathroom (18yd2) in a day every day on my new build sites, grouted polished. I even got in a half tiled bathroom as well some days. I kid you not, good money back then. Different game all-together.

Anyone who doubts this is a fool, I can bring people on here to confirm this was the norm back then.

i totally believe you Phil not that i could do a 20 m2 bathroom with boxed in area etc. I would imagine he walls would have been prepped though to get that amount of meterage?

in those days charlie, you could spread your walls and hold a pack of tiles and boosh boosh boosh, far quicker than the larger format tiles that are commonplace now.

It was Doug, I also had the saying, "I might be slow, but I'm rough", again tongue in cheek. This trade has changed so much, unfortunatly not for the better. There are people calling themselves tilers, that I would not trust to do my grouting, very sad, but very true.:mad2:

As Doug says, we used to have a stack of 6"x6" under our chin at least one square yard (36 tiles). Bottom half tiled before dinner, top half after, grout polish, done every day.
