It's a sticky situation for me as the same company fresh kitchens and bathrooms Ltd are ment to be starting my kitchen next week and I have said I have lost all confidence in there workmanship.. After these issues arose I had another kitchen fitter come in and look over there drawing and it's not the best either he found flaws in that.... So I have alot of alarm bells ringing at the moment as how it's played out this crowed is a right shower of sh#t
Yes, however,View attachment 114189
Am I right in reading this that plasterboard should be left for 10 days after being dot dabbed prior to tiling on?
If anyome could confirm this would be greatly appreciated to help me in this sticky situation I'm in
This is what I've said to them... I've cancelled the kitchen but saying it's non returnable as it's "bespoke... Made to measure" but it's all just standard size units pretty much as far as I know and can see from drawing nothing seems like a custom size to me....... I'm really at my wits end as I bought a older bungalow my first home and this happensYes, however,
Also if I've read the previous posts correctly, in your favour are the facts that...
They've dot and dabbed over existing tiles?
The full floor has failed before even being used?
No waterproofing or suitable boards used in wet areas?
Green star adhesive on heavy tiles?
You've already got more than a leg to stand on!
Get your money back, all of it, and more for the inconvenience,
And cancel the kitchen.
Hi daveYes BS5385 states all areas subject to wetting has to be waterproofed. Be this in aqua panel type boards Or the area is tanked with a paste system or membrane.
I will do

Bs5385 are British standards that if not followed could bite you in the arse if a job failed and you were took to court. Yes they are not regulations or law but are there for a guide as to how a project should be done. Any tiler worth his salt would at a minimum tile to a standard that will have longevity.Hi dave
Mentioned about the BS5385 basically got told thats a guideline and it don't state in the contract that they will be working to any regulations or standards
I always thought this was just the norm what just gets done in the shower area... Anyway..... I'm banging my head against a wall I'm proposing he gives me the £940 I have been quoted from a tiler give me the money back for all the tiles 24 square meters for wall and 4 for the floor... These were £48 per square tiles... The tiler I have got said this is to allow for cuts etc so hs added on a small percentage and I'll get them myself. The reason I'm asking for this is then I go get them myself and any are damaged or that I sort it out I don't have to go back to him as I feel an assault charge is coming how I'm feeling if I see him again.
Yeah mate... Just shows what this company I have been dealing with is all about..... All I can do is get as much money back as I can move on put it down to experience not smash his face and go public about the level of this company's workBs5385 are British standards that if not followed could bite you in the arse if a job failed and you were took to court.
