No not in jest at all, i'm not sure you read it right? Nick's post suggest that the people above just sit in an office counting their money and don't do anything for it but to squezee the ground floor workers. As far as I know Lynn isn't on the tools but works bloody hard for her money. But sadly sometimes that isn't seen and people that don't appreciate that role think it's an easy life without worry, responsibility or stress
I am really trying to keep this as a general discussion about pricing, without any malice.
It is a fact that that there are low commercial labour prices out there, but that does not always mean that the money is not there.
When work is sub contracted out, many people will pass on the work for a lower price than they are getting - FACT
Many companies have a price in already... any price they pay comes off their bottom line. Many account managers for flooring companies etc have a profit related bonus scheme tied into their salary package... At the end of the day it is all about profit !! If they can get a tiler to do a decent job at a lower price, then 9 times out of 10 they will opt for lower price.
My original post was with reference to an arms member who advertised for tilers paying £11 a metre for 600 x 600 ( prob porcelain ) wall tiling onto render... this price was an absolute insult !!
I doubt very much that if he was actually doing the job as well for that price that he would be getting £11 per metre.. got to be more !! If that is the case then he was offering job out to other tilers who are hard up for work and hoping to make a killing on their labour.
i really do not see wjhat your problem is ?
Are you saying that you would happily take on the job for that price ?
If yes, then fine.
If no then why not ?
