No your not the only one! I leave home at 5am every day and don't get home till between 7 & 8pm most days. Somtimes later. See theres lots of us that must be mad, but at least were working.:incazzato:

Yes, grab the opportunity and work hard when it's there, try not to panic when it's not, that's my philosophy.

The joys of being self employed.

How many of you have not had a day of sick since you started on your own?, its so so different when self employed.

Working for someone else, you get a bit under the weather and you phone in sick.........not when out on ya own

Only downside is you don't get sickness/holiday pay

The Legend; Phil Hobson RIP

ask phil hobson how many hours you spend tiling an aldi supermarket floor ,150 mtrs per day ,screed ,tile & vibrate. friday was like a day off only 600 mtrs of grouting to do .good money but after a few of them you change shape .

Hey Tommy, we loved it didn't we? Guess we didn't:yikes: Like you say, good money. But at what price? Ten days to do 1100m2 sand / cement power vibro. Twelve hour shifts, and the rest. 25 ton ready mix every morning, if I remember we used to lay 6 days 1st week, grout Sun, then lay Mon to fri 2nd week.Sat grout remainder of floor, skirtings, bucket sinks etc. Sunday off heaven:thumbsup: Then start again on another store Mon. Happy days? Perhaps not:ban:

talk about Stupid hours....I regularly have to start before 9.30 in the morning and am rarely back home before 3 in the afternoon. Mind you I compensate by taking a break at 11 and lunch from 12.30 to 2.........

I wish.......:yikes:

most i have ever done ( not tiling though ) was 6 months of 12 hour days without a day off , 40 hours at normal rate then 32 hours at time and a half and then 12 hours at double time , single time was £10 / hour and that was getting on for 20 years ago , shows how times have changed , my new job is paying £8.50 / hour with no overtime rate , just single time , aint complaining too much though , its better than the dole :yikes:

we had some good times on those aldi and lidl stores phil but they are a young mans game . on the asda walmart stores the terrazo layers are having to lay 200 or 300 mtrs per day using at least 30 tons of ready mix . give me a nice clean bathroom , kitchen or conservatory anyday now . still miss the old sand and cement fixing days though .:8:
