Seems like looking for excuses to duck out of payment. If the first bathroom was completed satisfactorily then it should be paid for in full, and anything needed to rectify the second bathroom could be deducted from the price of the job. The guy still has bills to pay and a family to feed, and from the two pictures shown, it doesn't look like an absolute abortion compared to some of the stuff we so on here week in week out.

Would be interesting to see the first bathroom.

It is a little curious that images of the first bathroom have not been posted. But many have asked to see it.

I smell an arguement here and don't really want to get drawn into. But, i understand the opinions. Yes the tiler has a family, bills etc etc. On the flip side i can understand how some people prehaps not as busy as they would like to be can get frustrated seeing work being turned out like this. No it's not a complete abortion, and agreed people make mistakes. I bet most that have read this would mutter to themselves and think they could do better.

Me personally would be looking to re-do or at least make some kind of obvious feature around the window.
I would seriously weigh up tghe financials of re-doing it because although you leave when you've completed. Your work is always left behind.
Sir Ramic came up with the best solution on the ceilling.

It's clearly a setting out error. Not enough to string him up, but a pretty basic error non the less. Im pretty sure the fella won't make the same mistake again though.

FAIR POINT. however we can only go with what is said in the post, and the customer has said that the tiler was the one that came up with the non payment idea, so in the respect either the customer is lying or the tiler is embarrassed about the quality of his work. if its anything like the latter then i will stand by my opinion.

I am going to change careers as I make mistakes ,I cocked up last week on a victorian path and tiled it too far past the customers boundary into the street ,I realised what i had done on and altered it and also knocked £50 off the bill to cover the cost of tiles I had wasted but after reading this thread realise I should not have been paid and need to go and hang my trowels up, are the lock smiths tools still for sale ?
