Topps and the bottled water for grout saga

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

I posted a thread about a Topps saleman telling one of my customers to mix the grout with bottled water, well I did a bit more digging and have found out that Bal is saying to use distilled or pure water when mixing colored grout if you live in a chalky area as the tap water can discolor the grout turning it lighter or even white due to the chalk in the water, over all the years that I have used Bal grout this only as happened once to me, do you think this might start to get a bit more common as they change there grout's bringing out new products,or is it just another get out ,I live in the South East were the water is very chalky.

Well , this is laughable .. one of the reasons i do not use Bal grouts or adhesives now... as the get out clauses are so ludicrous IMO..

Like I said in your earlier post afright, when washing off are you supposed to use distilled water as well, you'd need litres of the stuff!!! :mad2:

Just had a thought, my window cleaner carries his own distilled water in a tank in the back of his van, along with a very very long hose. He doesn't use ladders now just a long pole with a sponge thingy on, and he doesn't squeegee it off. As it's distilled water it leaves no marks on the windows, as normal water and rainwater does.

Apparently, the kit cost him about about 6k including the distilling machine at home that he fills the tank up with each night. Must remember to go out and get one next time I use BAL grout
