Which rapidset for floors?

Normally use Ardex X7 or S20, but had a limestone floor last week and the customer had ordered the addy with the tiles, and it was Mapei Keraquick, which as mentioned earlier lasts ages in the bucket which on that job was perfect.

Also run the water till really cold.

Make sure your mixing buckets are spotless (The first batch always seems to last longer than your second batch:whatchutalkingabout )

Mix small amounts

If doing a conservatory in hot weather.............try and bung a dust sheet over the roof if poss...............keeps you and addy a bit cooler

or just mix up in a fridge freezer

It will last longer on lower temperatures.

You will have the adhesive last longer if you will mix it with an electric mixer but make sure it is not too fast or you will introduce air which will render the adhesive weaker; obviously if you need the addy to harden up quicker, mix it by hand.

I did a conservatory about a month ago using Ardex S20, probably the hottest few days of the year so far, it felt like i spent more time mixing addy than laying tiles .
I'm off out tomorrow to get myself a mixing drill

Hi all. I used Topps rapid set on a floor to lay 330x330 tiles. The house was roasting on a very hot day and the mix started to go off in 15 minutes. Forevever mixing small amounts. Just had to grin and bear it and think of the final result.

I must agree with all the comments regarding the Mapei,lasts a good half hour or more when mixed,i like this stuff but still like PCI.HARD TOO CHOOSE.

i'v been using mapei keraquick for the last couple of months now, superb adhesive

I haven't used mapei but have used loads of others and have found Bal to mix real smooth and last much longer, just a shame it's so expensive :mad2:
