Preferred GU10 fitting?

Been a while (2011) since I last added some GU10 downlight fittings.

What are the good/reliable brands people are using now? It's for my own property.

Essentially will be to remove a single pendant and replace with 8 dimmable LED GU10 downlights.

My research has already steered me towards Varilight for the dimmable trailing edge switches but happy to hear recommended alternatives for that too.

Thanks in advance

Issues with megger mft1720

Hi

I've got a megger mft 1720 that I was hoping any one can shed any light on

When performing continuity tests (even when nulling the leads) and earth loop tests I seem to get higher readings than normal.

After a while of testing the tester seems to settle down and gives more accurate readings.

The tester has been calibrated a few months ago but has been like it for a while now. I've also brought a new set of leads in case they was the issue but still the same problem.

Has any...

Wide bezel adjustable LED GU10

Does anyone know of a product similar to the Integral LED 70-100mm range (linked) that allows you to adjust the lamp direction? The client has a few that are shining onto paintings, but we would like to be consistent with the bezel size.

Air pump for camping

You may have read elsewhere that I managed to break the hand pump for my inflatable awning for my caravan, so I’m currently looking for an electric equivalent.

However, im looking to see if I can find a pump that will do the awning (low pressure) and double up as an emergency tyre inflater (high pressure)

Seen a few on Amazon that range in price.
Would like battery, either rechargeable, or compatible with dewalt battery’s… hopefully the older style… as I use an old style drill to wind...

Is a keyswitch required for HMO emergency lighting?

Hi all,

I'm technically a 'trainee' but in a months time I will finally have all the qualifications to apply for an approved electrician jib card.

The first job I will be undertaking is getting a house up to HMO requirements, which are outside the scope of bs7671 so it's all a bit alien to me.

I know the areas I need to cover with emergency lighting, but I'm unsure as to the requirements of a key switch?

The existing lighting installation is obviously wired in two core so the key...

Really need to chat with one of the Scottish members who know their Parts B & F for Scotland

And here's why....

My long suffering Aussie owns a place in Scotland that's been rented out ever since she foolishly decided to move down with me years ago. It's a beautiful place which is mostly why she/we've kept it on, part of a conversion of dwellings from an originally much larger complex probably all done around the mid 80's (that's a guess), much of it is listed to some extent and her/our place is an 'upper' dwelling - what in the South we'd refer to as a Maisonette - so it's a two...
