Immersion fuse or MCB? Electrical Advice

Immersion fuse or MCB? Discussion ThreadImmersion fuse or MCB? Electrical Advice

An immersion heater 3kW, say off a final ring. A number of points.
Is is best have a 13A double pole FCU switch or a double pole 13A type C MCB?
A fuse is one-shot. If it blows the danger is eliminated until seen to. The MCB in a local enclosure doubles as switch but can be switched back on by the user.

Gradual current increase on a 13A fuse can cook a 2.5mm cable before a fuse blows. This can be a...

Insulation Resistance Electrical Advice

Insulation Resistance Discussion ThreadInsulation Resistance Electrical Advice

As an adult learner I understand that any equipment connected to a circuit that may be damaged by the IR test voltage should be disconnected. I watched an electrician carry out an EICR on a property I rent. On a ring final circuit he removed the plugs fom the sockets before carrying out the tests. If the socket is switched off why does he need to remove it? Thanks in advance.

Can anyone recommend a manufacturer of axial and in-line timer fans, as alternative to Envirovent SIL100T / SILMV 250/100T (or SILMV 160/100T)? Requirements:

  • No manufacturer's requirement for 3A fuse
  • Reasonably quiet
  • Good quality more important than cheap as chips
  • Not too ugly (axial version)...

I'll start by saying I don't install EV chargers and have not kept up to any great extent on regs changes etc but an existing customer has asked for a 13a socket for her EV granny charger in a 2nd home. (the previous outdoor socket has melted!).
After doing a bit of reading including 722 I have come to the conclusion that providing a 13a socket for such dedicated use is pretty much pointless as complying with...
