Been watching 3 body problem on netflix and its right up my street. Fictional space related thing.

I'm half way through and it's mint. No spoilers please (at a guess, everybody dies lol).

Any other suggestions?

When do Neutrals need to be switched? Electrical Advice

When do Neutrals need to be switched? Discussion ThreadWhen do Neutrals need to be switched? Electrical Advice

Sorry if this is a silly question but I can’t get an answer from colleagues as it’s a “I dunno”. So I thought I’d ask here!

Some of our TPN DB’s have a 3 pole main switch with a block for the neutral. Other TPN DB’s we have here have a 4 pole main switch which switches the neutral.

It’s the same for our machine isolators. Some have a 4 pole rotary switch and others have a...

The total linear footage of strips requires multiple power supplies, which I have...

Repurposing a cooker radial? Electrical Advice

Repurposing a cooker radial? Discussion ThreadRepurposing a cooker radial? Electrical Advice

We have a room in the house that was the kitchen. That has been relocated to a different area, so the old kitchen has been sold off and the room will be a bathroom. I’ve studded out the room and lined with cementitious board ready for tiling. All first fix plumbing is done. All sockets are obviously redundant. So they have been removed and the ring made good using wago junction boxes. The...

MAF fluctuation, ECU or rubbing wires? Electrical Advice

MAF fluctuation, ECU or rubbing wires? Discussion ThreadMAF fluctuation, ECU or rubbing wires? Electrical Advice

Hey guys, I have been battling with this car for some while now. So if you could help I'd be grateful.
The problem at hand is that the power wire supplies 2.5v but the return wire fluctuates really fast above 2.5, 2.65, 2.7.

Now to check if it was the MAF or not I just cut the wires before the MAF and twisted them together with no change on live data. I would have hopped...

Just wanted to see if many people had gone from an electrician to being a site manager and how they went about this? I think management is the route I want to go down, but the cost of going down the HNC or NVQ L6 route and then obtaining SMSTS/SSSTS, first aid and then a black card would simply be too much...

I am moving to a bungalow which I imagine will need a rewire. I've spoken to a local electrician and when I was asking if there would be a ring main for the kitchen and another for the two bedrooms and lounge he told me that ring mains are old hat saying that radial circuits are preferred. For the lights he also said that having a radial live feed to each ceiling rose with a cable running to the switches is...

Inverting old planer jointer motor Electrical Advice

Inverting old planer jointer motor Discussion ThreadInverting old planer jointer motor Electrical Advice

Hello everyone,

I've come across an old but trusty planer jointer with an old motor on it. But the way I want to re-assemble the machine makes it so I have to invert the rotation for the motor. I've tried a few things I've read but I probably messed up as it only resulted in poor speed and slow start-up (and huge power draw, so the capacitor may have been bypassed) despite...

Hello

Just looking for some advice on a rough cost on having a trench dug for cabling in an ev charger. The run is only around 10 metres long and is a mixture of concrete tarmac and soft ground. From what I've read it should be 600mm and then the ducting in. Most recent quote was over £3000 which is personally think is madness.

I would love to hear your ideas
