Extraction fans/part F Electrical Advice

Extraction fans/part F Discussion ThreadExtraction fans/part F Electrical Advice

Has part F now been modified with regards to notifications when installing extractor fans? It’s been many years since I’ve installed one but have heard that you must have attended a recognised training course, have a calibrated anemometer and complete a specific form for building control with the extractor details, extraction rates etc?

Where can I get one Electrical Advice

Where can I get one Discussion ThreadWhere can I get one Electrical Advice

Anyone know where I can get these. I lost the one I had and don't know where I got it from. It fitted in my little Wera ratchet or my Leatherman and saved me from carrying a separate key.
So that's all it is, a cabinet key (double bit) with a 1/4" hex end.

Maxi trunking running around consumer unit Electrical Advice

Maxi trunking running around consumer unit Discussion ThreadMaxi trunking running around consumer unit Electrical Advice

Hi all, recently seen a wylex consumer unit install video, they use bush and couplings to connect to the pvc trunking running horizontal on the top on the consumer unit, is this necessary? They also show another option using strain relief grommets (inside the trunking going into the CU) How would you go about joining it to a hager unit where they have the square...

Is this meter installation ok? Discussion ThreadIs this meter installation ok? Electrical Advice

Hey guys, just wondering if this installation is ok? the neutral can get isolated on the main circuit which if the second circuit is not isolated would mean there is no return for the second circuit. the isolator switches are individual (its actually two isolators in one shell)

Thoughts on this set up Discussion ThreadThoughts on this set up Electrical Advice

This is supplying a small commercial set up. SWA is only 16mm and the isolator is rated at 100A. Earth cable between MET and SWA is only 10mm.
How would you code it? Having a brain fart and thought I'd seek other opinions.

Hello,

Last year my 30 year old Static Pase convertor stopped working, the 3 phase motor is 0.55KW / 0.74HP and drives a small lathe. When I switched it on the contactor in the Phase converter was being swiched on and off quite fast by the small Relay 1 oscillating on/off, and would not start the Motor.

I have a microwave oven that I tore apart before taking metal to scrap. I safely discharged the capacitor first, then took out the interior parts.

Kitchen extractor fan Electrical Advice

Kitchen extractor fan Discussion ThreadKitchen extractor fan Electrical Advice

Hi all,

I'm looking for recommendations for a kitchen extractor fan with a rate of 60l/s.

We're nearly done with our renovation, but we've just been informed that we need one (I know, a bit late in the day, and I’m not happy, but here we are). I’m considering installing one in the top kitchen cabinet that would extract out, but this would require cutting a hole in the kitchen furniture, and I’m unsure if...

Hello

I have a problem with my 2010 Kia Sorento kx2. I recently bought a second hand trailer. I was told all the lights were working so I plugged it in. However, nothing works.

When I got home I found a number of shorts on the trailer that I have now fixed. However, my car since has a persistent problem that I cannot fix, even when the trailer is not connected...

Zs too high Electrical Advice

Zs too high Discussion ThreadZs too high Electrical Advice

I have a Ze reading of 0.35 on a TNCS system and I've had the DNO out to check and they say its ok.

From my main board I have 2x 10mm sub mains feeding another board and my Zs on the cables is ~0.45 ohms. Max allowed according to BS7671 is 0.35 ohms. What can I do in this instance as the high Zs is caused by the high Ze which the DNO has okayed.

Thanks for the input.

Had an interesting one today, ring circuit blown the Mcb in a kitchen apparently a few times over last day or so. It has blown once when nothing was really in use in kitchen so kind of ruling out overload.
When turned up and turned it back on it held for maybe 5 minutes before blowing again…. Unplugged everything and tested IR which was down on L-N,L-E & N-E.
