Testing Discussion ThreadTesting Electrical Advice

Hello good people

I haven't worked in the industry and I have DIY experience.

I am studying the course at York college.

I have a practical exam coming up. So i just want to get some practice in beforehand. Got a couple of months left yet.

I've made or should I say attempted to make a little sketch of the board will be.

The consumer unit will have RCD protection although this board doesn't seem to have it.

Live garden SWA wrapped in tape Electrical Advice

Live garden SWA wrapped in tape Discussion ThreadLive garden SWA wrapped in tape Electrical Advice

The image shows an SWA feed for a garden building which is not yet built. The feed is part of a new build house installation and the circuit is supplied via a hager RCBO and was energised when I found the cable, I've switched the breaker off. Is leaving a circuit in this condition compliant with the 18th Edition?

Thanks

Fire alarm panel. Don’t recognise fault code Electrical Advice

Fire alarm panel. Don’t recognise fault code Discussion ThreadFire alarm panel. Don’t recognise fault code Electrical Advice

The big stately home I’ve been working in has an EMS 5096 alarm system with over 100 detectors and 3 (that I know of) panels.
All detectors are battery powered and radio back to its closest panel. All panels are also radio linked together.

They get the odd fault code which is usually a flat battery. They can change the battery’s and reset the system...

Dewalt drill parts Electrical Advice

Dewalt drill parts Discussion ThreadDewalt drill parts Electrical Advice

Is there a supplier of dewalt parts, namely the clutch of a 18V SDS dewalt drill.

The rotary stop of my drill must be worn out as the chisel spins with little resistance when it should be straight.
Hammer drilling and non hammer drilling seem to be ok.
I’m hoping I can just replace the innards.

I’ve probably worn it out myself as I’ve had a lot of chasing out to do recently…. But depending on price, I...

Changing gas cooker to electric oven with hob Discussion ThreadChanging gas cooker to electric oven with hob Electrical Advice

Hi, I have an old gas cooker, which I am changing to a electric integrated cooker with induction hob(the hob can be plugged in to a 13 amp socket, but I'm not sure if this would be powerful enough. The power of the hob is 2800W). I have a cooker switch which has its own dedicated 32A fuse. My question is , would my best option be to chase out the wall to...

Collective thoughts about issue… Pub kitchen Electrical Advice

Collective thoughts about issue… Pub kitchen Discussion ThreadCollective thoughts about issue… Pub kitchen Electrical Advice

Been asked to look at local pub kitchen as a circuit was tripping.

The circuit appears to be a repurposed cooker circuit, fed in 6mm t&e to two MK double sockets. Second socket is fed in 2.5 from the first.
The load is 2x twin fryers… at 2.6kW per unit… so 4 units, but only 3 are ever used as the last one is positioned under a shelf.
The RCBO is only a...

Lift supplys Electrical Advice

Lift supplys Discussion ThreadLift supplys Electrical Advice

Hi guys hoping someone can clarify something for me. Basically I’ve been asked to fit new SWA from a fused isolator to a new rotary isolator in a lift shaft. I don’t know if I can do it based on my quals (18th edition, part P, level 3 test inspect) and that I’m not NICEIC registered yet for myself as I work for a company under their registration. I’ve been told a minor works certificate is required but don’t want to fall...
