WT Henley series 4 cutout Electrical Advice

WT Henley series 4 cutout Discussion ThreadWT Henley series 4 cutout Electrical Advice

Hi there, I recently had a home rewiring and the electrician spotted we had no earth. It's an old house and it was never added by previous owners.

He installed a WT Henley series 4 cutout device for the time being as it was a more cost effective solution.

He's wired it up and now the property is all grounded to this box and it has an external 100amp fuse but aside from that, I don't really know...

Single phase spur from Three phase isolator. Discussion ThreadSingle phase spur from Three phase isolator. Electrical Advice

Morning all,

Little advice regarding whether spuring from a Three phase isolator to a single phase FCU is allowed?

I need to wire a Single phase FCU which is located right next to a 16A TP isolator to a high speed door. Obviously, It would be a lot less pain to wire straight from the TP isolator to a SP FCU. Rather than running a cable from the Sub main for...

W2D3…. EV charging question Discussion ThreadW2D3…. EV charging question Electrical Advice

Actually a valid question for day 3

My daughters place of work has bought a 7kW EV charge point (project EV from screwfix, with RFID) and asked me to run in a supply for it and set it up.

Looking at the board, there’s a space for a 3 phase charger.

Now, the question is, would advising them to go with a 22kW 3 phase version be beneficial?

Ok, charging will be quicker… but is that only for...

Hello,

How would you go about testing outside lights on an EICR if they are supplied off an outside socket?

The sockets are supplied off the downstairs ring main, inside there is a 13amp switched fuse spur, then a double pole isolator running outside to 3 x double outdoor sockets all run in SWA. There is a ‘Knightsbridge remote control lighting switch’ inside a weatherproof box plugged into one...

A random thought just came to me. I remember watching the Alfred Hitchcock film 'The Birds' many years ago. The birds all start attacking and killing humans. At the time it was a scarry film. I was just thinking, would it have had the same effect if it had been ducks?

I am setting up a series of fish rearing tanks. Each tank will have a 240v centrifuge to collect sediment as I’m drawing water from my lake. The centrifuge has an automatic switch off when the sediment builds up and needs emptied. In the water line is a 240v 30amp UV sterilisation light. If the centrifuge automatically switches off the UV light will overheat and blow the expensive bulb.

When I moved into my house 42 years ago, there was already a 100 amp panel with a 100 amp main breaker but I recently found out that the service wire to my house and all my neighbors (who also have 100 amp min panels) is a #8 aluminum, which is only rated for 40 amps!
