Collective thoughts about issue… Pub kitchen Electrical Advice

Collective thoughts about issue… Pub kitchen Discussion ThreadCollective thoughts about issue… Pub kitchen Electrical Advice

Been asked to look at local pub kitchen as a circuit was tripping.

The circuit appears to be a repurposed cooker circuit, fed in 6mm t&e to two MK double sockets. Second socket is fed in 2.5 from the first.
The load is 2x twin fryers… at 2.6kW per unit… so 4 units, but only 3 are ever used as the last one is positioned under a shelf.
The RCBO is only a...

Lift supplys Electrical Advice

Lift supplys Discussion ThreadLift supplys Electrical Advice

Hi guys hoping someone can clarify something for me. Basically I’ve been asked to fit new SWA from a fused isolator to a new rotary isolator in a lift shaft. I don’t know if I can do it based on my quals (18th edition, part P, level 3 test inspect) and that I’m not NICEIC registered yet for myself as I work for a company under their registration. I’ve been told a minor works certificate is required but don’t want to fall...

Cooker hood venting Electrical Advice

Cooker hood venting Discussion ThreadCooker hood venting Electrical Advice

Ive been asked to replace a cooker hood thats gone "pop" and just by speaking to the customer on the phone, i think i know why.

Apparently, the ducting goes straight up, and through the roof... Not sure if its a bungelow, or goes another storey before going out the roof.

To me, i expect the hot air is cooling, condensing onto the duct as grease, and running straight back down into the hood. Unless a vertical...

Why is there no ground connection in the ceiling light I bought? Discussion ThreadWhy is there no ground connection in the ceiling light I bought? Electrical Advice

I haven't installed it, don't worry.

I bougt this ceiling light that came with a metal housing and no ceiling rose. The only thing in there was this plastic junction box for the L/N wires.

Means I'll have to use some Wago connectors to make up for the ceiling rose. But what about ground...

I have a slightly different question today, I have a customer who has multiple lights without CPCs terminated, the cables completely lack a CPC, however in some rooms they have a CPC and in other rooms they do not, so yes a CPC leaves the board, but does not run to all light fixtures and switches! Most of the class 1 equipment...

Can Solar panels cause tripping when isolated Discussion ThreadCan Solar panels cause tripping when isolated Electrical Advice

Anyone know if its possible for a rooftop solar array to cause an RCD trip even when the solar circuit is isolated at its rotary isolator ? I've had no dealings with solar atall so wouldn't know . The solar circuit is in a split load RCD board. I'm assuming the solar install was bonafide as its on a fairly newbuild. Stray earth current leakage from the...

I always use my OSG to find R1+R2 when needed for designing a circuit (staying withing the Zs limits), but I wondered if the same table is somewhere in BS7671? Its table I1 in the OSG. I've hunted high and low so I expect it's just something that the OSG offers and isn't in BS7671, but I thought I'd ask :smiley2:.

Is there a...
