Need Advice on ATS for PV System. Discussion ThreadNeed Advice on ATS for PV System. Electrical Advice

Does Anyone know of a switch or ATS that can work in the diagram attached?

Was told by the manufacturer that these inverters can work solely as hybrid inverters. However it appears the ATS Inside the Hybrid inverter can not be avoided. Under Normal circumstances the Inverters want to sit in between the grid and the load but that is not acceptable in this system as even when the...

I've just been fettling some 50 year old 2L2.5 pyro (MICC) to relocate a plug socket. I probably bent the cable a little more than I should have (although I didn't feel it was particularly tight when I did it) when I was doing the fettling, but now I've pulled the cable straightish again, I seem to have a short across the live, neutral and earth on the cable in question...

Getting Older and Slower Discussion ThreadGetting Older and Slower Electrical Advice

Hi everyone.
I’m now 50 and find myself taking twice as long doing things that in my head should not be taking as long.
Not sure if it’s an age thing or a state of mind I also find myself double checking things more.
I know I may be comparing to my younger self, who was bought up on a diet of local authority occupied rewires and Bovis new builds, where speed was more of a priority than anything...

Contactor wiring with Nest thermostat Electrical Advice

Contactor wiring with Nest thermostat Discussion ThreadContactor wiring with Nest thermostat Electrical Advice

Hello, I'm trying to get a contactor to work with a nest thermostat to activate an oil filled heater rather than a boiler.

I wired permanent live and neutral to the two poles at the top of the connector (1+3), switched outputs to the bottom (2+4) then the common and demand lines from nest to A1 and A2.

There's a click from the contactor when demand is called but no...

Extending wires in consumer unit. Electrical Advice

Extending wires in consumer unit. Discussion ThreadExtending wires in consumer unit. Electrical Advice

Hi, everyone.

I need to move a circuit to an MCB at the other end of a split load board.

The cables all enter the CU at one end, and the cables in question will not reach the breaker at the other end without extending them. It is a ring final circuit.

What's the best method to do it? I was going to use in line crimps with heat shrink over. Would that be OK?

Any advice...

Hello all you fine folk and hope you're all keeping well.

Having a bit of a dilemma here regarding making off 3x10sq LSF cable for a shower. I'm debating about about whether to use a crab tree pull chord or to just mount a 2 gang 45/50A shower switch. Shower rating is 9.8kw with cable being clipped direct to timber joist in attic. I don't want to rule out the possibility that the cables could be...

Hi there,

Just a quick question. I am rectifying many problems on some 3 phase immersion heater circuits in a plant room. There are 4 pole rotary isolators just before the immersion elements and the earthing arrangement is TN-S.

I noticed that the neutrals are connected into a dedicated linking terminal to the side, as opposed to the 4th pole...

Probably a silly question as I haven’t come across it yet.

On a 2 way switch I assume a dimmable lamp will work ok with 1 switch on a dimmer and the other on a normal light switch? So no dim when the normal light switch is pressed (just on/off) but when the dimmer switch is used the light will be dimmed?

Also assuming the same...
