RCD neutral fault. Discussion ThreadRCD neutral fault. Electrical Advice

Greetings.
I am an electrician wannabee and am doing a spot of labouring for an electrician. Maybe not a wise career move at this time but it's too late to change now.
My electrician boss and I were having a discussion about why an RCD would trip even if all the MCBS connected to it were switched off and he said it was caused by an earth neutral fault.
I asked how can there be an earth neutral fault when all the...

Pot light bags Electrical Advice

Pot light bags Discussion ThreadPot light bags Electrical Advice

Installing those large plastic bags or pouches over LED pot lights can be a real pain, especially when the light is adjacent to a truss or strapping, or both. And since most pot lights have a rubber gasket that seals it against the drywall, I think their benefit is questionable. How are others dealing with these and are inspectors insisting on their use? Thx.

I understand that the IET say AFDD's 'must be considered' for hotels, however in HMO's, High Risk Residential Buildings, Student accommodation and care homes they are a requirement on sockets not exceeding 32Amps as stated in BS7671 (421.1.7). Why wouldn't hotels be compulsory? Is it just a cost thing or is there a valid...
