Digital Hot Water / Heating Timer (NOT a thermostat) which connects with WiFi or ZigBee

I have a Drayton lifestyle unit in the utility room where we schedule the weekly hot water and central heating times.

I would like to replace it with something digital which automatically updates the clock twice a year by connecting to my local wifi or zigbee network.

I don't want t thermostat (we have one, in the hall) - I just want the timer unit.

Does this exist as I can't find it.

Vent pipe connection to soil pipe

Following the recent installation of a bathroom, I had a leak causing damage in the room below caused by a partially decoupled vent pipe connection to the soil stack. It was likely unsettled by the installation. My insurance company have refused the claim on the grounds that the flexi bend connection is 'defective', a substandard fitting to the soil stack. The connection has been there since at least 1993 with no issue. I would appreciate expert option as to whether a flexi pipe connection...

Old primus gas bottle, can you still get refilled or exchanged?

From my old plumbing days, I still have an old primus gas bottle, (340g) with the screw in brass top, with the adjustable burner, that is now almost empty.
Was mainly used for soldering copper pipes/fittings.
Despite being old I do still use it on occasion, for a bit of soldering, paint removal, etc.
I think I got it refilled (or exchanged) a few years back, but can't seem to find anyone that does these now.
Does anyone know if these can still be refilled or exchange the empty bottle for a...

Maintenance Bathroom Vanity Unit

A new 1000mm vanity unit was installed professionally in my upstairs bathroom about 3 years ago. Having had cause to fix a leak, I now find that maintenance is a complete nightmare - or even impossible. For instance, the cistern is fixed to the wall just below the top of the vanity unit so it is apparently impossible to get to the cistern mechanisms without removing the vanity unit from the wall - ie stripping out the whole unit together with the toilet.

Can this really be the case or am I...

Return flow temperature too high?

Main 18 Heat ERP boiler. Wiser smart TRV controls. Drayton Auto balance thermostatic valves.
I'm having problems maintaining good flow around CH system. The out flow is 60c and return is 55c. As a result the boiler is reaching set point and switching off before rads get hot enough. I've replaced the flow thermistor and tried different pump speeds. I've been advised I probably have a blockage somewhere but don't want to involve a power flush unless I'm sure. Any help would be greatly...

London Plumber/Business partner wanted

Hi All,

I am looking for an experienced Plumber/Gas Engineer who would be willing to partner to build a team of subcontactors (10 in the medium term) in London. You would ideally be a one-man band or have small team but are still on the tools yourself and feel that this isn't sustainable.

I have successfully partnered previously but unfortunately we ended our business relationship amicably due to personal circumstances. The business itself grew well from one tradesman to a team and we...

Mains supply to mixer tap is pushing cold water to hot water pipe

I live in an apartment block where generally hot water is supplied from the communal hot water cylinder and cold water to bathrooms is supplied from cold water tanks in the loft. It is a vented system. However, in a basement flat and a ground floor flat cold water supply to bathrooms is through the mains (as in the kitchen of course). Because the pressure from the mains is much higher than for the hot water supply, in some mixer tap the mains water in the mixer tap pushes mains water through...

Kitchen tap

Hi All,
I bought this new sink tap with a shower ~£40 (one lever) on Amazon, relatively good reviews.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0BLHFTJYP?smid=A1HZTFTICA23YN&th=1
I installed it (ground floor) but what I have noticed straight away is that the flow is almost half of what the wash basin tap (cheap one upstairs) produces (I am talking about the flow of hot water, all the way to the left)

I think the old sink tap (two lever Brita Kelda Chrome Amazon.co.uk -...

Advice on connecting flat with different cold and hot water supply

My residential block has 5 floors above the ground floor, the 5th being the top floor (loft under the sloping roof) where one side has the communal cold water tanks for most flats and a communal hot water cylinder for most flats as well. The other side of the 5th floor has a tiny studio, where the the cold water is supplied from a tank above the studio's roof and the hot water is supplied from an adjacent immersion cylinder serving that flat alone. If I get rid of the cold water tank and...

Kitchen Tap (same issue as previous poster)

Hi, my kitchen hot tap (mixer tap) has low flow compared to the bathroom upstairs and to the cold side in the kitchen.

It was fine a while back but we had a leak and the flow to the taps was isolated and ever since its been really low flow.

The boiler is a Atag ic econ 27 combi.

I have checked the isolation valves on the hot side and they are fully open under the sink, exactly same as the cold.

Any ideas? I don't know what else it could be .

Thanks in advance

Plumbers/gas fitters wanting to emigrate to New Zealand?

We emigrated to Auckland, in the North Island of New Zealand from the UK over 20 years ago and have a successful hydronic underfloor heating company - we have ongoing work in mainly high end residential installations and existing work to be completed. We also have hundreds of previously installed systems that we maintain. We are looking to retire down to the South Island where our older children are looking at moving too and are thinking of selling our business. Currently it’s just my...
